As I’ve said before, if I had a job that required me to go into any part of the south and west sides of Chicago especially during a crime surge, I’d find a better job. Bring those suspicious passengers in for police questioning. The driver should have used better judgment in recognizing his passengers were acting strange and kicked them out immediately, then he would’ve protected himself and avoided the shooting. You don’t need to be street smart to tell, just use common sense. I bet this is all gang related.

Following lyft instructions by the book could sometimes be a stupid decision depending on situation. I wouldn't have driven those girls to their destination. I would have made sure I'm no longer insight of the shooters and dropped the two trouble makers at the back seat at the closest police station and ask them to get out of the car. I'll tell them to ask the police to take them to their destination. My safety first.

Passengers were involved. They tried to set up the Lyft driver. 3 different parties were included, the passengers, shooters, and then there were another party waiting at the destination for the robbery.

The video clearly shows the women bail out and then some people start attacking the driver immediately after. The one female is barely out off the car when he starts getting punched. It should be the drivers choice if they want to accept customers in sketchy areas at night…and since they were hiding I would’ve asked if they were hiding from someone if they say yes or no I would’ve just left and try hiding in traffic…these drivers really shouldn’t take customers from sketchy neighborhoods especially at night…since lyft isn’t personally there…what’re they supposed to do in that situation? Clearly the drivers fault. He opted to not get a vehicle with bullet resistant windows and panels. He chose to not have doors that can't be opened from the outside and he decided to not have flame throwers attached to the bottom of his vehicle the deter attackers. You can't put this blame on Lyft or Uber who likely have crime statistics for the area he was picking up in.

That driver was a moron their shooting into your car and he just sits there like a moron, then slowly takes off as he’s being followed, DRIVE! he’s more concerned about contacting lyft then getting away from people actively shooting and following his car. However he didn’t deserve the brutal beating he got that wasn’t necessary.

that's a typical set up clearly, those women tried to hide their faces from that dashcam, the shooters wasn't aiming at the women but they laid low to prepare for the blast and glass so the driver has room to hit the rear glass, more likely they wanted the car...and I don't understand why the driver went to the destination...in a situation like that THEIR/ passenger destination is not an option...you drive to a busy area or hit the interstate

I also think the passengers has something to do with that because you can hear her talking on the phone and she said something about Uber driver she didn't say I'm in the Uber she said something about the driver I wish they would show the video without the media audio overriding it but that's crazy...
