No Arms Can Ever Hold You
GEORGIE SHAW Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

No arms can ever hold you
like these arms of mine
no heart can ever love you
like this heart of mine
my dreams can all come true
if you'll care for me
this love that i feel for you
was just meant to be
no lips can ever kiss you
like these lips of mine
no one can ever offer
what i offer you
my heart, my love are yours
'till the end of time

no arms can ever hold you
like these arms of mine

Never heard of Georgie Shaw but he does a creditable job on here. This was also the flip side to Jimmy Young's UK #1 version of The Man From Laramie also from 1955, I have Jimmy's version uploaded on my channel. Thanks for uploading.

No doubt, this was always THE OLDIE(S) version in Philadelphia, PA; his hometown at least. It could be heard even 50 or more years later on stations that played the 40's and 50's Hit Parade like sainted WPEN AM 950 of memory. And, by the way, moreover, this just happens to be the best fluffing' version of the song, by anyone.

I forgot all about this beautiful song and was reminded of it by a friend who made contact with Georgie Shaw in the 80's and just came across the correspondence he had with him.  Beautiful.

way before extreme technology like auto-tune, studio over-dubbing,etc. you acually had to have a voice and talent!

@Isrek1 You're welcome! It's interesting that Georgie's version was the most successful in the US, but it's possibly the least well-known today. I also agree with your assessment and feel this version is much better than Boone's and Vinton's has a very weak arrangement. The Jan Peerce version is great, and I have it posted on one of my other channels.

...cover version "Nessuno al mondo" (No One In The World) by Peppino Di Capri was a great success in Italy...
