Allin's lyrics, which often included misogyny, racism, social apathy, child abuse, incest, rape and homophobia, deeply divided opinions of him within the highly politicized punk community. He is best remembered for his notorious live performances that typically featured wildly transgressive acts. Some of these acts included Allin defecating and urinating onstage, rolling in feces and often consuming excrement, committing self-injury, performing naked, taunting people to perform fellatio on him and committing violent actions toward the audience. Although more notorious for his stage antics than for his wide body of music, he recorded prolifically, not only in the punk rock genre, but also in spoken word, country and Rolling Stones-influenced rock. Though he had a devoted cult following, Allin's music has received mostly negative reviews from critics.

Sitting in This Room
GG Allin Lyrics

Dark and gloom
Four walls look to me
To be held
Sitting in this room
Sucks so bad
I might as well
Everybody outside these walls to me
Seem so plastic
They seem so phoney
It's so unreal
They tell you
Do this, don't do that
Do this, don't do that
Do this, don't do that
Do this, don't do that
Do this, don't do that
It makes me sick
In this room
Dark and gloom
Four walls of Hell
I'd rather be inside a tomb
Oh, in this room
With my needle and my spoon all by myself
I'm makin' love to myself
Inside this room
Sitting in this room
I want to die
I want to die
I want to die
Death is in this room
And you know death
Is often these days
On my mind
I'm sick, I'm sick, I'm sick, I'm sick, I'm sick
I'm sick, I'm sick, I'm sick, I'm sick
And all things must pass away
Someday
But in this room
All dark and gloom
Four walls of Hell
I'd rather be inside my tomb
Oh, in this room
With my needle and my spoon by myself
I'm makin' love to myself
Inside this room
Oh, in this room
With my needle and my spoon
And a bottle in my arms, pills in my mouth
In this room
Oh, in this room
Four walls of Hell inside this room
I'm makin' love to myself
Inside this room
Sitting in this room
I want to die
I want to die
I want to die
The lyrics to GG Allin's "Sitting in This Room" suggest a sense of extreme isolation and despair. The opening lines, "Sitting in this room / Dark and gloom," indicate the mood of the singer, who is sitting in a space that feels like a prison or a tomb. The four walls that surround him feel restrictive and oppressive, and he longs for freedom.
As the song goes on, the singer expresses a deep sense of disgust with the world outside of his room. He sees everyone as "plastic" and "phoney," and he rails against the rules and expectations that society imposes on individuals. The repetition of the phrase "Do this, don't do that" emphasizes the feelings of restriction and oppression that the singer experiences.
The chorus of the song repeats the phrase "I want to die" three times, emphasizing the singer's deep sense of hopelessness and despair. The final verse of the song suggests that addiction and self-destructive behavior are the only forms of escape available to the singer. The reference to a "needle and spoon" conjures up images of drug addiction, and the lines "And a bottle in my arms, pills in my mouth" suggest that the singer is seeking to numb himself to the pain of his situation.
Overall, "Sitting in This Room" is a powerful and disturbing portrait of a person struggling with isolation, alienation, and addiction.
