Prior to their official debut as GOT7, members Jaebeom and Jinyoung debuted as a special project unit entitled JJ Project in May of 2012. Additionally, four of the remaining five members of the group appeared on the September 6, 2013 episode of MNET's reality-survival program WIN: Who Is Next, where they competed against trainees from rival company YG Entertainment. Their appearance on the show gained the group many fans among netizens.
The group released their debut mini-album Got It? on January 20, 2014. The group made their first comeback in June that same year with the release of their second mini-album GOT♡, featuring the lead single "A". In October of 2014 the group ventured into the Japanese market with the release of their debut Japanese-language single AROUND THE WORLD.
The group released their first full-length studio album Identify in December of 2014, lead by the title track "하지 하지마 (Stop stop it)".

GOT7's "Stop stop it" is a song about a boy who feels like he's going crazy because of a girl who drives him up the wall. The lyrics reveal that he just can't handle it when she smiles at him or touches him because she's so beautiful and it sends him over the edge. He says that every time she talks to him and touches him he just wants to hug her tight and never let go. The chorus "하지마" which translates to "stop it" is from the boy asking the girl to stop driving him crazy and that he won't be able to take it much longer.
The song showcases the frustrations of a guy who can't control his emotions for a girl that he's crushing on. The boy is trying his best to hold back his feelings and not let them show, but every time he sees or thinks about the girl he loses his composure. The lyrics are catchy and relatable, which is one of the reasons why the song was very popular amongst the Kpop community.
