Lift my feet up off the ground
I just want to dance again
Dance until we meet again
Hmm hmm hmm
Hmm hmm hmm
Hmm hmm hmm
I just want to dance around
At every old club in town
I want you in tune with me
And we'll live a fantasy
Yes, I feel a special thing
And it makes me want to sing
Hmm hmm hmm
Hmm hmm hmm
Do you want to dance?
Do you want to dance?
I just want to dance around
Lift my feet up off the ground
I just want to dance again
Dance until we meet again
Do you want to dance?
Do you want to dance?
I just want to spread my wings
As we dance a crazy thing
I just feel like having fun
With you tonight, you are the one
I just want to dance with you
You make it so special, you
You make it so special, you
Do you wanna dance?
Do you wanna dance?
Hmm hmm hmm
Do you wanna dance? (Hmm hmm hmm)
Do you wanna dance?
(Do you wanna dance? Hmm hmm hmm)
(Do you want to dance? Hmm hmm hmm)
(Do you want to dance? Hmm hmm hmm)
Do you wanna dance? (Hmm hmm hmm)
Do you want to dance? (Hmm hmm hmm)
Do you wanna dance? (Hmm hmm hmm)
(Do you want to dance? Hmm hmm hmm)
In Gaëtan Roussel's song "DYWD," the lyrics convey a deep desire and yearning to let go and lose oneself in the joy of dancing. The repetition of the line "I just want to dance around" emphasizes the simplicity and purity of this desire. The act of dancing is portrayed as a way to elevate oneself from the mundane and ordinary, lifting feet off the ground metaphorically symbolizing a desire to transcend everyday worries and concerns.
The mention of old clubs in town brings a nostalgic element to the song, suggesting a longing to relive past moments of joy and connection through dancing. The desire to have a partner in tune with the singer signifies the importance of shared experiences and connections in creating a blissful fantasy world where worries fade away. The line "Yes, I feel a special thing, And it makes me want to sing" suggests that the act of dancing and being in sync with another person evokes a special, almost transcendent feeling that can inspire the desire to express oneself through song.
As the lyrics continue, the singer expresses a desire to spread their wings and experience a carefree, fun-filled dance with a special someone. There is a sense of liberation and joy in the idea of dancing a "crazy thing" with a partner who makes the experience uniquely special. The refrain "Do you want to dance?" serves not only as a direct invitation but also as a plea for shared moments of happiness and connection through the universal language of dance.
The repetition of the humming throughout the song adds a dreamlike quality, enhancing the sense of escapism and euphoria that dancing can bring. The final lines, "You make it so special, you, You make it so special, you," highlight the importance of the partner in creating a magical and unforgettable dance experience. Overall, "DYWD" by Gaëtan Roussel captures the essence of longing for connection, joy, and unity through the simple yet profound act of dancing.
