There She Goes
Gabrielle Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Her eyes tell a story
That she's been through many wars
And the lines that are upon her face
Tell you she can't take no more
A shadow of her former self
That is all I see
And the beauty that she once possessed
Is now only skin deep

[Bridge]
Leading a lonely life
And she doesn't know where she's going; she just doesn't know
She says that now is the time
But she doesn't realise
That the years have passed her by

[Chorus]
There she goes
She's not the girl that I once used to know
There she goes
What happened to the girl with the golden glow?
Na na na na na na na na
Na na na na na na
Na na na na na na na na
Na na na

Make no plans
For tomorrow
She's living for today
She feels there is no future
And that's a crying shame
She's not the girl I used to know
Her eyes no longer shine
It's the life that she's been living
She's been through hard times

[Bridge]

[Chorus]

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Gabrielle's song There She Goes describe a woman who has gone through many struggles and hardships, which have taken a toll on her physical appearance and mental state. The first stanza portrays her eyes as telling a story of the many wars she has encountered, and the lines on her face suggesting she can't take anymore. The woman is a shadow of her former self, and the beauty she once possessed is only skin deep. The second verse further emphasizes her troubles and how she is living for today with no plans made for tomorrow, feeling like there is no future for her. The chorus questions what happened to the girl with the golden glow that she once knew.

The song is a commentary on how society often tends to cast off and overlook individuals who have gone through difficult times, especially women. Gabrielle talks about how the woman in the song is a mere shadow of her former self, her beauty now only being skin deep, which is often the case for women who have gone through a lot in life. It is a heartbreaking situation, and the song tells that story well. This song serves as a poignant reminder of the struggles and pain that many women go through, which is often ignored or overlooked.

on Tumbling Down

Tumbling Down is more about those countries that are in conflict with, like wars.
Gabrielle is telling us that all of us are the same, regardless of from what country we came from, whatever our racial origins were, whatever language we speak.
She was asking, the world leaders who were the masterminds of the chaos between nations, when to stop. Will they stop when it is already too late? When thousands of humanities were already lost by these senseless killings? When no one is left?
She begs to stop these wars between countries before it was too late to perceive.
She was asking if everyone have died, will they have felt that they eon the battle?
In conclusion, this song is all about the wars going on around 5he globe, like now in Israel and Palestine, etc.
Discovered this song last Oct.7,2023 ,when Hama's attacked Israel.
But,I'm Pro Palestine because Israel is taking revenge,Israel is unbecoming now as a country. With thousands of innocent Palestinian died with their bómbings, esp.children and women,I am not going to buy their alibis and being biased.
