Dancin' to the Sound of a Broken Heart
Galantis Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Do you remember
When you and I were young?
We always stared each other down
Till we were numb
There in the madness
Us against the world
And every heartbeat felt like
This is what we deserve

With every heartbeat

With every heartbeat

With every heartbeat

With every heartbeat

With every heartbeat

We were dancing to the sound
Of a broken heart

I remember running in the dark
We were dancing to the sound
Of a broken heart
There in the madness
Us against the world
And every heartbeat felt like
This is what we deserve

We were dancing to the sound
Of a broken heart
We were dancing to the sound
Of a broken heart

With every heartbeat

With every heartbeat

With every heartbeat

With every heartbeat

With every heartbeat

We were dancing to the sound
Of a broken heart

We were dancing to the sound
Of a broken heart

We were dancing to the sound
Of a broken heart

We were dancing to the sound
Of a broken heart

We were dancing to the sound
Of a broken heart

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Galantis' "Dancin’ to the Sound of a Broken Heart" describes a nostalgic reminiscence of a past relationship. The first verse delves into the intense connection that the two people shared while they were young. They used to stare at each other until they became numb, and they were against the world in the madness of their love. The chorus repeats the phrase "with every heartbeat," emphasizing the intensity of their emotions. Despite the relationship being broken, they were still dancing to the sound of their broken heart. The song reflects on the painful feelings associated with a lost love, but also highlights the beauty and intensity of the time they had together.

The chorus "We were dancing to the sound of a broken heart" is referring to the idea that even though their heart was broken, they were still dancing and moving forward with the pain. Further, the line "there in the madness, us against the world" denotes intense passion and the feeling that they were the only ones who mattered in this world.

one of my favourite songs by them. this is actually beautiful.

@BradPlaysNow

This might sound cliche, but this song is more than a spectacular beat, this is something that speaks to me in a beautiful way. To some people this is probably just noise and another EDM song, but it's more than that. It comes down to who listens to music and who feels the music.
