@mmamidget not an ignorant comment at all, most people have no idea what a chord is. your right about how arps give powermetal that different sound, because its a very common technique used in power/prog and not in most other genres. its a very classical sounding style, which gives it that epic feeling. ya yngwie was an inspiration to a lot of guitarists, especially ones from sweden. hes like Americas Ozzy. completely changed the sound and image of metal. i think your right on that.

@mmamidget this song is 90% power chords. an arpeggio is a chord broken into individual notes, not a chord itself. if you strum it like a chord its not an arp. even power chords can be arpeggiated. its a technique not a type of chord, just a way to play one.
