A Thousand Years
Gallon Drunk Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
The sweet taste of your skin
The bare warmth of your body
All my senses breathe it in
Oh, my life′s been so blessed
All because of your sweet caress
If I had another thousand years with you
And if you left I′d cry more than a thousand tears
'Cause a day without you
Would be like a thousand years
I know life can be crazy
Yeah, sometimes so unfair
I've battled through the darkness
And the mountains of despair
But, your love′s got me spellbound
That I can take any mountain down
If I had another thousand years with you
Even that wouldn′t be enough
And if you left I'd cry more than a thousand tears
′Cause a day without you
Would be like a thousand years
A thousand years
The lyrics of Gallon Drunk's "A Thousand Years" are a heartfelt expression of love and devotion. The opening lines paint a vivid picture of the intense physical and emotional connection between the singer and their beloved. The waking from a whisper, the sweet taste of skin, the bare warmth of a body - all of these sensations are described as being deeply meaningful and life-affirming.
The chorus of the song expresses a desire for eternity with the loved one. The singer muses that a thousand years together would not be enough time, and that the pain of separation would be unbearable. The verse that follows acknowledges the difficulties of life, but declares that the power of love can overcome any obstacle.
Overall, the song is a celebration of the transformative power of love, and a recognition of the joy and pain that come with it.
