18:50 i like this concept a lot actually. both more than the other ones (sorry to the other artists), and than the regional variant were getting. this concept appears to be a straight up evolution, which i think suits Electrode; especially if the other Pokéballs surrounding/orbiting it are Voltorb. i can even think of a 'Dex entry.

"This evolution is achieved when an Electrode gathers enough power and a group of Voltorb circle it. These orbiting Electrode produce an alternating current, and magnetic field. Some power plant designs have been successfully built, based on Dymano-o". it's name is based on Dynamo, an alternating current generator, and the suffix "o-o", which comes from Susano-o. wow, this is such a good concept, and you thought it was Garbodor. it's ability will be: "True North". this ability functions like Volt Absorb, and Levitate but also, it is completely immune to magnet based Pokemon like Magnezone, and Probopass. the downside? it's steel typing makes it deathly allergic to fire type attacks, and bird & whale Pokémon never miss their attacks.

as for Seaking, i think it should evolve into a Japanese dragon. it's based on the Koi, and there's all kinds of Koi myths and legends. however, to distinguish it from Gyarados, it's design would of course have to be different, but i think it's colours could also change. it's base form will be white, with black spots, and a single blue stripe running down it's back. the shiny form will have it's colours inverted. completely. which means the stripe will be the colour.... orange. that's right. orange. not red. orange will also be the colours of it's base eyes, and get inverted to blue when shiny. however, i think the blues and oranges should have dynamic shades, not monotone. this will really add to the visual interest. and, i think the placement of the spots should change between normal, and shiny. i would say they could be based on an algorithm, like Spinda..... but that would be copying Spinda, so no. males have two large horns, females do not. the males use their horns to compete against each other for females. the dominant male controls the surrounding area, turning this area into a large breeding grounds. they function as guardians against predators. they go out hunting for food. the horns are red, like Gardivoire and Mega Gallade's, thus; double function as sensory organs. their territory, when left in charge of them, becomes peaceful, and open to a large diversity of small fish. they're actually a net positive on the environment, in that way.

i believe we should get Mega Kabutops, and yes, Mega Helix too, because of Mega Aerodactyl. i know Kabutops and Omystar are more of a duo............................................................ buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuut they're also kind of a trio. and the fact that the Pokemon companies gave a Mega to one, and not the other, is kind of wrong. yes i know Megas are dead, but we could still get them, just never be able to use them. which would probably be worse than not having them at all, but at east it would bring back balance.

i really like that "Minotauros" Mega fan art, btw. the other art is cool too.

I’d love to see a Ditto evolution with a unique evolution process. Like what does a ditto evolve into if it never uses Transform? Does it gain a grumpier and lumpier demeanor because it never got to transform into another Pokémon? I feel like they could honestly do something cool

They could add more to ditto by using its seeming backround as an experiment gone wrong. The experiment could get worse as decades pass, it's genetics begin to mutate more or something close to that, eventually becoming a mutating monstrosity. I thought of a few things:
Ditto being a seeming shapeshifter could have something go wrong as it shapeshifts, to say that whatever it shifted to will now be it's final form, but not an exact copy. Boost in stats(probably not exact copies) but takes the strongest and weakest stat of the copied pokemon and reverses them. If the type copied was fire it could be switched to water(type changed depending on copied pokemons weakness) or could be switched based upon their Hidden Power. Eeveevolutions would be a thing of the past( but probably not) probably could build a whole story arc based around someone creating these mutated ditto's that are permanently shapeshifting into these weird forms of other pokemon.

not only does parasect have some of the most weaknesses, the dry skin ability makes it the only pokemon to have 5x weakness to anything (fire)

For Dewgong, it could get a narwhal looking evolution, keeping the real-world animal feel and laying into the horn on the head art-wise. Maybe a type change/update, with a stat table similar to whailord, another large real-world based sea creature.

I still think a Galarian Electrode with floating hexagonal panels would've been great. Make the body white and the panels black but have then glow red when charged. I know Dubwool is already a football pokemon, but the Voltorb line are basically mimics and you really wouldn't want to accidentally kick one

Honestly, I think Dewgong's design is very charming in its simple elegance and don't care that it doesn't vary from its design inspiration much. It's one of my overlooked favorites and I don't want it to have an evolution or anything that would alter it significantly. The rest of you can forget about it - I'll go on liking Dewgong just the way it is. :3

For Dewgong, the easy answer is to go with a narwhal style evolution. They're designed fairly similar, and Dewgong and Seal already has the start of a horn, so why not?

Sticking with the seal line I suggest something like a leopard seal form. you could drop the water type and give it a dark type. Ice/dark isn’t common so that’s unique.

Here's what I'd do for Dewgong.

First, the type combo. I'd want to see how a Ice/Steel type would hold up, but it's 4x fire weakness is a major hold up. Design wise, I'd want a pokemon based on a leopard seal, making Dewgong a darker color that serves as camouflage, adding some nice spotted patterns and maybe even blades on the edges of it's tail would be a nice touch. I'd want it to look cool.

For the stats, I'd bump up it's speed and special stats, maybe add a bit to the other ones and finally give it a very good ability. Set one of these up the right way and you could potentially have a beat on the field if you can cover it's weaknesses.

Also about Omastar and Kabutops I had an idea to give them Alolan Forms where they developed back in their time and still went extinct. My thoughts were if keeping Rock. Dragon/Rock Omastar and Steel/Rock Kabutops (but I'd prefer to keep the water type over Rock on both instead)

I think Ditto would be interesting to receive a new regional form for. I think it would be cool if instead of transforming into the opposing pokemon it had its own moveset and stats and when it switches in you get to pick which of the stats or moveset to copy from the opponent. Idk I just feel like Ditto has a lot of potential for a new regional form to play off of in terms of making new mechanics, plus it would allow for a new game to have a Ditto for breeding purposes while essentially getting to add a new pokemon at the same time (since every game has had Ditto be obtainable in it except for Legends Arceus since it doesn't have breeding and Ruby and Sapphire for some reason)

To be fair, Mew got its exclusive z-move genesis supernova. It’s also the Pokémon that Goh is so focused on catching in Pokémon journeys. Speaking of journeys. Ash got a Dragonite recently and it’s probably his most powerful Pokémon of the season so far. So I don’t think Dragonite is being forgotten any time soon.

@sarvan I would disagree. Levitate, wonder guard, speed boost, weather setters, Protean/Libero , intimidate. These all outclass or equal the ability while also having less accessible counters. Either way this is why I think dragonite needs more love in game. Just give him a G-max!

I'd argue Venonat is more forgotten than Paras. If discounting national dex appearances and remakes. It's the only Kanto line that hasn't been seen in now more than two decades

Dewgong has a little horn. Imagine an evolution inspired in a real life Narwhal with a really long horn akin to a unicorn’s.

Due to the fact that Narwal horns where historically sold as unicorn horns and were thought to have magical properties, you could even argue for a type change to Ice/Fairy. That’s something I’d love to see!

@Declan McKenna something more akin to Dhelmise's Metalworker ability (for ice moves obviously) would be acceptable. I do think the Fairy typing suit Dewgong but it has to have that ability or feel it's a downgrade. (most dragons are 4x weak to ice and ice/water is a good typing)

My two favorite Pokémon, purely for nostalgia, are Parasect and Dragonite.
I liked to imagine Shroom as this stoic samurai that, in the face of a huge Machamp barreling towards him, calmly readies his claws, then cuts him down with precision using Aerial Ace.
I also like to image he feeds on birds purely for revenge.

I'd love a new tentacruel regional variant with a new evolution. It starts as pure Water, with a Water/Electric 2nd form and a special circumstance 3rd form that is either dark or psychic and water. The third form being a more eldrich horror based pokemon, I mean come on! Tentacles, lives in the deep ocean, being poison normally, eldrich knowledge could be poisonous? Idk I just like it.

It could be a pokemon that "after learning about the true depths of the ocean, thus pokemon has evolved past a purely mortal form." "This pokemon has lived in the depths for so long that, it has taken a great total on its mind and its evolved from this trauma."

The Pokedex entries have stated that Mega Aerodactyl is actually closer to Aerodactyl's original appearance, and that modern Aerodactyl are a lot more tame than the original Aerodactyl. It says that a strong bond with its trainer awakens dormant genes that bring back the rocks that were on Aerodactyl in ancient times.

I really think if they gave Dodrio a new form, it's typing should be a normal/steel. Not sure what that would look like (maybe shiny, pronounced metal beaks could be one feature?), but it's never made sense to me that Dodrio is a flying type to begin with. And we have never seen a normal/steel type in the game, so it could be interesting. Dodrio is fast and hard hitting on the physical side, and a steel typing might be able to make up for what it lacks defensively to maybe, perhaps make it much more useful.

9:05 Another fun fact with Parasect; a Parasect with dry skin technically has a 5x weakness to fire. On top of its normal 4x weakness, dry skin Pokémon take 25% extra damage if hit by a fire type move, so 4 times 1.25 equals 5

I just got a crazy idea and likely could break the game. imagine if there's a move that reverse weakness and resistance. So instead of a 8x weakness, it can flip into an 8x resistance.

Doesn't Fluffy add 1.5x damage from fire moves? So if Parasect gets Skill Swapped Fluffy, it can be 6 times weak to fire.

I think it would be great if they made a split evolution for Shellder so that one of the evolutions could have insane special defense instead of defense. The special defense one could be a Water/Rock type to make Rock Blast stronger.

I've always wanted to play as a team rocket grunt.. and I think certain species with a naturally aggressive disposition would benefit playing to their nature and pay homage to both Team Rocket and Kanto in general

Dude... Electrode and Voltorb could have a cool ass type changing gimmick. In a region bring in something like the old Apricorn balls or, hell just bring them back with a slight redesign/technology upgrade with more variations. Whatever type of ball you catch them in, changes their typing to Electric/Whatever. Catch it in a Lureball? Water/Electric. Catch it in a variation of a Duskball? Electric/Dark or Electric/Ghost. Heavyball? Electric/Rock. You can do so many cool things with this concept. While the designs may be just "okay", the method of obtaining them could really breathe some life into them. Maybe you have to catch them in or take them to specific locations- possibly tied to the story or a B-plot- as well.

I think that instead of giving Dodrio an evolution/new form, they should give Doduo's base stat to a new one-headed Pokemon, and give Dodrio's base to Doduo, and then just buff Dodrio.

Idea - due to a glitch in revival, they get fused with some of the heat and metals from the machine, making them volcano-like steel fire types. They could both look cool, still be counterparts due to the same premise, e.t.c.

For Aerodactyl, I always took it that the reviving process wasn’t perfected in Gen 1. Meaning the Pokémon were revived, but they weren’t completely restored to their proper forms and bodies. That’s why Asrodactyl’s mega form is described as “Resembling Aerodactyl’s true form”.

2 things
1st the idea of a hot pepper alternate evolution for weeping bell that makes it a grass fire type would be fantastic and a great option for that typing as we'd probably expect it to be on the lower end of stat totals which is important for the grass fire typing because quite franky grass fire would be a bananas busted typing.
2nd dewgong totally should get a regional evolution they just need to lean more into the narwhale theme that was started. I've seen a few designs that could go into a fairy based narwhale or there is a really cool fake mon called Narbrawl which is a water dark but could also be a water fighting type. Possibly even have a gender split regional evolution for it.

EDIT: Actually you know what 3 things. Hisuian Growlithe is garbo and I can't believe they done did the goodest boy Arcanine dirty like that.

I personally think that both Nidoking and Nidoqueen should get the steel typing however Nidoqueen could work really well as poison/steel and Nidoking would be better as Ground/steel

Evolved Dodrio would go the other way-- Doduno. Have two the heads get out-preformed by one, leading to them reducing in size and only having one "main" head. Make it Fighting/Flying because it beat out the other heads

Fearow should get a reginonal evolution with a stat total of 600. It already has a similar stat total as dragnair so it could totaly work as a middle evolition in a pseudo legandary pokemon.

@greaterfiend game freak isn’t the best at balancing tbh. Just look at how Op psychic was then dark till they added fairy lol. They probably didn’t think about it too much like most the gmax moves when making the moves effects, for example most of charizard’s fire moves get weaker if he gmaxes, or atleast from what I’ve noticed it does, then again I tend to have different type moves on my mons so he might have a few fire moves that get stronger but most seem to get weaker from what I’ve seen.

@greaterfiend ghost has always had mainly special moves, but its classified as physical cause gen one. They went off damage attacks and ghosts had only one damage move Lick in gen one, rest were special but they were status, so they classified it as physical. Kinda dumb tbh since it’s a ghost and doesn’t have a physical form but that’s how they went with things. Also to the dark comment dark was special in gen 2.

To be super honest, your take on Dewgong was a little confusing. Wouldn't the fact it was so dull actually make it the ideal candidate for a face lift? Gen 1 was pretty hit or miss and bringing older designs into the modern design aesthetic would be a good way of showing love.

But to answer the prompt, I think they should lean into the fact that real life manatees are endangered, like they did with Cursola. I would give it a second typing of poison(water contaminants) or ghost (extinction), like they did with Cursola. If they're going to base it on a real animal, might as well base it on that real animal's struggles.

dodrio could get 3 regional types each with a different secondary typing ie: flying ground, flying electric and flying fairy. Each would get a unique ability and move pool

I know nothing on the topic, but it might help to see dewgong with a bigger color pallete and better moves early on. Either that or just buff their stats in general. It is a pretty bland pokemon, like you said.

9:44 Honestly I agree. Parasect as a competitive pokemon may be terrible, but its situation as a pokemon in the game is crazy. A bug with a mushroom on its back that grows and takes over its mind is pretty metal. Also for the artwork, I think its final form should be almost 100% mushroom as the mushroom has consumed its body. The ghost type change also fits super well.

5:43 actually something that could give the Nidos some recognition is a regional nidoran that isn't male or female. It evoles into probably Nidorino since it's more popular, being in the first fight pokemok ever saw, and then it gets a regional evolution: Nidoboss, a dark/ground type.
A cameo from Giovanni or Silver using one would be very fitting

I wonder if it was done on purpose.
Parasect had gotta be the most forgettable gen 1 pokemon.
Now it will always have a space in the heart of people who played Arceus.
Who knows, maybe he will even get a new variant in gen 9 because of spanish shrooms, and it was just a way to get hype back on Parasect.
There's an important spanish film where shrooms were an important part of the family, so they might also get something from there.
