Letra de Homero Manzi
I
Milonga pa' recordarte.
Milonga sentimental.
Otros se quejan llorando
Tu amor se seco de golpe
nunca dijiste por que.
Yo me consuelo pensando
que fue traición de mujer.
II
Varon, pa' quererte mucho,
varon, pa' desearte el bien,
varon, pa' olvidar agravios
porque ya te perdone.
Tal vez no lo sepas nunca,
tal vez no lo puedas creer,
tal vez te provoque risa
!verme tirao a tus pies!
III
Es facil pegar un tajo
pa' cobrar una traición
o jugar en una daga
la suerte de una pasión.
Pero no es facil cortarse
los tientos de un metejon
cuando estan bien amarrados
al palo del corazón.
II (bis)
Varon, pa' quererte mucho, etc.
Milonga que hizo tu ausencia.
Milonga de evocación.
Milonga para que nunca
la canten en tu balcon.
Pa' que vuelvas con la noche
why te vayas con el sol.
Pa' decirte que si, a veces,
o pa' gritarte que no.

The lyrics of Gardel Carlos's song Milonga sentimental are full of heartache and longing for a lost love. The first verse speaks of a milonga, a traditional Argentinian dance, that the singer sings to remember his lost love. While others may complain and cry, he wants to sing instead, as a way to not give in to his pain. The second verse addresses the love interest directly, calling him a "varon," or strong man, and expressing the singer's desire to love him and wish him well, even though he may have been wronged by him. He asks for forgiveness and admits to being vulnerable to his love, even if it causes laughter or disdain from others.
The third verse continues the theme of heartbreak, exploring the difficulty of letting go of a love that is still tied to the heart. The use of the metaphor of "cortarse los tientos" or cutting the strings of a metejon, a traditional Argentinian whip, represents the challenge of disentangling oneself from a powerful and binding emotion. The chorus repeats the second verse, calling the love interest a strong man and reiterating the singer's desire to love him and either say yes or no to him, depending on the situation. The overall theme of the song is one of melancholy and nostalgia for a lost love, and the complex emotions that come with it.
