He's not Hendrix in term of similiarity, but Gary Clark Jr has created a very particular fusion of blues and contemporary R&B/soul music, in a similar manner to how Hendrix seamlessly merged blues music with psychedelic and folk music. Plus, GCJ's guitar skills are incredible. Like Hendrix, he's a guitarist who knows how to do fingerpicking on an acoustic incredibly well.

If all you go by is this one song, then sure. But listen to some of his other stuff before dismissing him out of hand. He channels everything from Clapton to Berry to Johnson to Guy to King, even SRV, yet has his own "feel" that brings a freshness to blues/jazz/funk that is sorely needed.

Blues is the backbone of 80% of genres out there. I agree with everything except blues became recognized in the 20's. Blues started around 1810.
