In 1989 I fell in love as a young Marine, I found out I would be gone for 2 years overseas. I told her not to wait for me because I thought it would be unfair to her to wait on me in her first year of college. I came back and she ended up marrying the guy she dated after me. It doesn't matter when or where, but when I hear this song, I still think of her 31 years later.
