Just Dance
Gary Go Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I's had a little bit too much
All of the people start to rush by
A dizzy twister dance. Can't find my drink old man.
Where are my keys? I lost my phone

What's going on on the floor?
I love this record baby but I can't see straight anymore
Keep it cool, what's the name of this club?
I can't remember but it's alright

Just dance, gonna be okay, been here before
Just dance, spin that record babe, loud on the floor
Just dance, can't hear my phone when you don't call
Just dance, dance
Just dance

Wish I could shut my playboy mouth,
I let you turn me inside out.
Control your poison babe, roses have thorns they say
Tonight we'll dance away the pain

What's going on on the floor?
I love this record baby but I can't think straight anymore
Keep it cool, what's the name of this club?
I can't remember but it's alright

Just dance, gonna be okay, been here before
Just dance, spin that record babe, loud on the floor
Just dance, can't hear my phone when you don't call
Just dance, dance dance dance
Just dance

RAP

Just dance, gonna be okay, been here before
Just dance, spin that record babe, loud on the floor
Just dance, can't hear my phone when you don't call
Just dance, dance
I'm spinnig spinnig
i'm spinnig but the feeling inside
i'm spinnng the feeling wont die

i'm shaking but pain is still here
I'm dancing but it wont disappear

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Gary Go's song "Just Dance" depict a clubgoer in a state of disorientation and panic. The singer of the song has had too much to drink and is struggling to keep track of his possessions, such as his keys and phone. Despite his confusion and attempts to keep his cool, he can't seem to remember where he is or what the name of the club is. However, the singer finds solace in dancing and losing himself in the music, with the repeated refrain of "Just dance, gonna be okay, been here before." The singer also desires to escape the pain he is feeling, and he hopes that dancing the night away will alleviate some of his emotional distress.

Overall, "Just Dance" touches on themes of escapism, the struggle to maintain composure in social situations, and the power of music to provide temporary relief from emotional pain. The singer's anxiety and confusion serve as a commentary on the hectic and frenzied atmosphere of club culture. However, the repeated refrain of "just dance" suggests that there is a universality to the experience of losing oneself in music and finding comfort in letting go.

Gaga wrote this song from the stand point of view of someone trying to escape the heartache from a break up and buried it in a up tempo up beat song. Gary Go masterfully pulls the true meaning of the song out and lays out so you can truly feel that anxst and hurt.

I just want to thank everyone for the amazing comments! I was honoured to be a part of this song I think what this song shows me that if we take time to just look at how people are creative and slow things down a little, you see a completely different side to their creation and the message they are throwing at you :) But thanks again people, it means so much! add me on facebook!! This guy has a true latent understanding and control of musical composition. I agree he takes a song that, due to it's original up tempo beat, seems to be a dance song. He truly honors the message with his version of this song.

I'm glad to know I'm not crazy. I discovered the sad side of the original song about a month or two after I first heard the song. It took a bad relationship for me to hear it, but I knew it was there, and I still can't hear it without without hearing my own sad interpretation. When I discovered this cover tonight, I was so relieved. I'm not insane.

Holy moly, this song is amazing. It's almost hypnotic and very soothing. I've listened to it so many times. Brilliant! I like Lady Gaga's version but this is a whole new interpretation of it. I love it way more than the original.
