Wright, a friend of George Harrison, appeared in a TV show at the age of 7. Later he came to Europe to continue studying psychology. In 1967 he joined the band Spooky Tooth as singer and keyboardist. After Spooky Tooth's split in 1974, he continued his solo career culminating in "Dream Weaver". The single peaked at #2 for 3 weeks on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1976, and went gold. It was also featured in the Wayne's World film and soundtrack. Later that year, his follow-up single "Love Is Alive" also reached #2 (for 2 weeks). Ronnie Montrose played guitar on the Gary Wright song "Power Of Love" from the Dream Weaver album.
This would be the last significant success Wright would achieve on the pop chart until 1981, when he returned with "Really Wanna Know You, a bouncy, bass-heavy pop song that hit #16. His 1981 song "Comin' Apart" was sampled by Armand van Helden in the 2004 club music anthem "My, My, My".
On June 8, 2010, Gary Wright released Connected, his first new pop/rock album in over 20 years. The album's lead single "Satisfied" has special guest appearances by Ringo Starr on drums, with both Joe Walsh and Jeff 'Skunk' Baxter on guitar. Wright continues to tour, most recently as a member of the supergroup 'Ringo Starr & His All-Starr Band'.

Getting further out of range
Seems to me there's been a change
We don't exchange the things we used to
You say it's nothing
Baby I doubt it
Can't you see we did better without it
C'mon girl, stand up and shout it
Baby, let it out
(Let it out, let it out)
Tell me, what you're upset about?
Let it out
(Let it out, let it out)
Baby, you've got to let it out
Give me more than what we knew
Tell me more than I love you
Tell me something I can do
To prove us through
Baby, you've got to
Baby, let it out
(Let it out, let it out)
Tell me, what you're upset about?
Let it out
(Let it out, let it out)
Baby, you've got to let it out
Just care enough to let me inside it
Can't you see it's time you can fight it?
Can't you see it's time that you cried it?
C'mon girl, don't try to hide it
Baby, let it out
(Let it out, let it out)
Tell me, what you're upset about?
Let it out
(Let it out, let it out)
Baby, you've got to let it out
Let it out
(Let it out, let it out)
Tell me, what you're upset about?
Let it out
(Let it out, let it out)
Baby, you've got to let it out
Let it out
(Let it out, let it out)
Tell me, what you're upset about?
The lyrics of Gary Wright's song "Let It Out" express the frustrations of a partner who senses that something has changed in their relationship but is not being told outright what that change is. The first verse reveals that the singer has noticed their partner becoming more distant and uncommunicative. Despite the partner's protests that nothing is wrong, the singer is unconvinced and urges them to confide in him or her. The chorus repeats the command to "let it out" and implores the partner to reveal what is bothering them.
The second verse shifts to the singer's request for more honesty and openness in the relationship. The singer wants to hear something more substantial than just "I love you" and offers to do something to prove their commitment. The bridge of the song emphasizes the importance of the partner allowing the singer to access their feelings, urging them to stop hiding and start communicating.
"Let It Out" is a plea for greater emotional transparency and intimacy in a relationship. The song suggests that bottling up emotions and avoiding confrontation can lead to distance and disconnection between partners. By contrast, opening up and sharing one's feelings can potentially bring a couple closer together.

I just thought about this song again as I was listening to the rest of the record. I remember I would sit back and do my home work and crank it up. The music back then was one of a kind. I still get my old records out once in awhile. Great music, great times
