Wright, a friend of George Harrison, appeared in a TV show at the age of 7. Later he came to Europe to continue studying psychology. In 1967 he joined the band Spooky Tooth as singer and keyboardist. After Spooky Tooth's split in 1974, he continued his solo career culminating in "Dream Weaver". The single peaked at #2 for 3 weeks on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1976, and went gold. It was also featured in the Wayne's World film and soundtrack. Later that year, his follow-up single "Love Is Alive" also reached #2 (for 2 weeks). Ronnie Montrose played guitar on the Gary Wright song "Power Of Love" from the Dream Weaver album.
This would be the last significant success Wright would achieve on the pop chart until 1981, when he returned with "Really Wanna Know You, a bouncy, bass-heavy pop song that hit #16. His 1981 song "Comin' Apart" was sampled by Armand van Helden in the 2004 club music anthem "My, My, My".
On June 8, 2010, Gary Wright released Connected, his first new pop/rock album in over 20 years. The album's lead single "Satisfied" has special guest appearances by Ringo Starr on drums, with both Joe Walsh and Jeff 'Skunk' Baxter on guitar. Wright continues to tour, most recently as a member of the supergroup 'Ringo Starr & His All-Starr Band'.

I got love to bring you
I got it all here in my head
I got a song to sing you
Come on, come on
Come with me tonight
Come ride my fire
Let's get it on
'Cause I need you tonight
I'm caught up in my desire
I get much higher
I get much higher
Bein' in you, yes I do
Yes, I feel there's a change in the air
There's a good vibration
And I find that bein' with you each time
You're a fascination
Turn me, turn me
Turn me on
To a new sensation
Long as I'm with you
I'm goin' inside
To the realization
I get much higher
I get much higher
Bein' in you, yes I do
Yes, I feel there's a change in the air
There's a good vibration
And I find that bein' with you each time
You're a fascination
Turn me, turn me
Turn me on
To a new sensation
Long as I'm with you
I'm goin' inside
To the realization
I get much higher
I get much higher
Bein' in you, yes I do
I get much higher
I get much higher now
I get much higher
Bein' in you, yes I do
Woo, hoo, hoo
The lyrics of Gary Wright's song "Much Higher" convey the singer's feelings of intense desire and passion towards their loved one. The first two lines of the opening verse highlight the two elements that the singer possesses within themselves, which they plan on sharing with their beloved - love in their heart and music in their head. They urge their love interest to come with them and join them in a passionate adventure where they can together ride the fire of love. The repetition of "I get much higher" throughout the song conveys the feelings of euphoria and ecstasy that the singer experiences when they are with their lover. They confess to feeling a change in the air and a positive vibration when they are around their lover. The phrase "you're a fascination" suggests that the singer is captivated by their loved one and find them endlessly interesting and intriguing.
The chorus repeatedly reinforces the idea that the singer gets much higher, wilder, and more intense when they are with their lover, and that this person is the reason for their intense pleasure. The phrase "turn me on," conveys sexual connotations, emphasizing the physical attraction and connection between the two lovers. The lyrics suggest an intimate sexual relationship between the two partners that is beyond just physical pleasure, by using phrases like "goin' inside to the realization," "new sensation," "much higher," etc.
Overall, the song "Much Higher" is a passionate ode to love and desire, highlighting the intensity and ecstasy of a sexual relationship.

This song was my favorite. He was a real musical genius. I bought his album in 1975 and heard he was at the radio station and I rode my bicycle to meet him and he gave me his autograph, I should have brought the album for him to sign. Lost it now but he signed it love Gary Wright. Funny that was 42 years ago. I still love your music GARY if you read these.

Great Scott !! This is awesome, and finally somebody had the nerve and wisdom to post this fantastic masterpiece ! "Much Higher" was the flip side to the 45" great single "Love Is Alive" and I believe was final touch to the Dreamweaver"s mass appeal to both rock and r&b music listeners !! Thankyou humanjukebox 1958 for posting this sensational song, which should have been a super hit song just as "Love Is Alive" and "Dreamweaver" was. Thanks You/Tube !!
