Transmission
Gay Dad Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Transmission, am I coming through?
Transmission, I've got nothing to lose
’Cause I know who you are
And I know what you're waiting for

Transmission, on a teenage high
And the black eyed girl, is she dead or alive?
’Cause I know what you are
And I know what you're going through

I wanna get high on you
Turning it on for you
I promise the sun and the moon
I'm gonna get high with you

Transmission, are you running blind?
You're a dead end girl on the edge of the night
And the lights don't ever seem
To reach your eyes

Transmission, at the end of the line
And you don't know how, and you don't ask why
Don't need a prison wall
To know you're free

I wanna get high on you
Turning it on for you
I promise the sun and the moon
I'm gonna get high with you

I wanna get high on you
Turning it on for you
I promise the sun and the moon
I'm gonna get high with you

I'm gonna get high on you
Turning it on for you

I promise the sun and the moon
I'm gonna get high with you

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Gay Dad's "Transmission" seem to be about someone trying to connect with another person on a deeper level, possibly through drug use or other forms of escapism. The singer is seeking a transcendental experience with the other person, promising the "sun and the moon" and wanting to get "high" with them. The other person, described as a "dead end girl on the edge of the night," appears to be struggling with some internal issues and is unable to find solace or fulfillment. The singer thinks they know what the other person is going through and is insistent on being a part of it, even if it means using drugs or engaging in risky behavior.

The repeated references to "transmission" seem to be a metaphor for this attempt at connection. The singer is asking if their message is coming through to the other person and is confident that they can provide what the other person needs. However, there is also a sense of ambiguity and uncertainty around the connection, with the other person described as "dead or alive" and the lights "never seeming to reach [their] eyes." It is unclear if the singer's attempts at connection will be successful or if they are simply deluding themselves.

Overall, "Transmission" appears to be a song about the complexities of human relationships and the desire for deeper connections, even if it means engaging in self-destructive behavior.

Love this song

Dave

One of the greatest rock n roll albums of time and I know the genre

edgardo gregorini

If this song had been performed by Coldplay, it would surely have been an international success, but as a commercially unknown band did it, it only went unfairly unnoticed. 20 years later, I still hear this great song as if it remained intact.

@Mr Learning 2 Fun Yes, it's true, it was just a crude example
