Akyol is the daughter of fellow artist Muzaffer Akyol, and, like her father, she is involved in visual arts as well as being a graduate from cultural studies. Her debut solo record, Develerle Yaşıyorum, stroked a new chord in Turkish alternative music scene. She unearthed her own story expanded into nine tracks in May 2014. She gained notoriety in the scene as each parts of Toz ve Toz, and the local hypnotic "electro-acoustic" band Seni Görmem İmkansız with Tuğçe Şenoğul, now determined to continue her musical venture as a whimsical storyteller.
The singer's sound can be defined as ‘musiki’ rather than the old good muzak itself. An old school word used in Turkish language for music, be that a more sophisticated, oriental and spiritual sound.
Akyol received Best Artist award at Songlines Music Awards 2019.
İstikrarlı Hayal Hakikattir

Yatırır adamı hop falakaya
Dere gibi akar, dertte yüzeriz
Uçuyoruz evet çünkü güzeliz
İstikrarlı hayal hakikattir
Ölüm var mı yoksa bi rüya mı
Derdim derdine ortak olsun
Al sazım anlat, ben yoruldum
Sığamadım, her yerden kovuldum
Denize yakışan martı gibiyiz
Nereye eserse oraya gideriz
İstikrarlı hayal hakikattir
Ölüm var ve bu bi rüyadır
Derdim derdine ortak olsun
Salla be hayat rakınroldur
İstikrarlı hayal hakikattir
Ölüm var ve bu bi rüyadır
(İstikrarlı hayal hakikattir)
(Ölüm var ve bu bi rüyadır)
(Derdim derdine ortak olsun)
(Salla be hayat rakınroldur)
İstikrarlı hayal hakikattir
Ölüm var ve bu bi rüyadır
Derdim derdine ortak olsun
Salla be hayat rakınroldur
The lyrics of "İstikrarlı Hayal Hakikattir" by Gaye Su Akyol are an introspective reflection on the nature of life and the pursuit of meaning. The opening lines speak of the difficulties of life, with its unrelenting pace and sometimes harsh realities which can feel like being sent to the gallows. However, the song then shifts to a slightly more positive view of life, with its flowing river-like quality, and acknowledges the beauty and freedom of it all.
The phrase "İstikrarlı Hayal Hakikattir" is repeated throughout the song, which translates to "a stable dream is a reality". This lyric is a powerful reminder that the dreams we have can be the foundation upon which we can build our lives. Even though there's a sense of questioning around the nature of reality and mortality, ultimately the song argues that by holding onto our dreams and pursuing them, we can create our own sense of stability and purpose.
The song also hints at the importance of connection and emotions, calling for "aşk şarabın düşle dolsun" which can be translated to "let love be filled with dreams" or "let love be filled with fantasies". There's a sense that love can provide a sanctuary from the chaos of life, and that by sharing our struggles with others, we can find commonality and comfort.
Overall, the lyrics of "İstikrarlı Hayal Hakikattir" are a deep reflection on the human experience, the pursuit of meaning, and the power of dreams to give us strength and purpose.

Consistent Fantasy Is The Reality
Oh, what a life is this!
What a head is that!
Makes your ass damn kicked out
We flow like the water, float in the pain
And we're flying up, right
That's because we're high
Consistent fantasy is the reality
Is the death real or is it a dream?
May my pain share yours
May your lovely wine be filled up with dreams
Ride on my hobbyhorse**, I'm tuckered out
I couldn't grow out of, been kicked out from everyplace
We're like the seagull chiming in with the sea
Wherever the wind blows we go there
Consistent fantasy is the reality
The death is real and that's a dream
May my pain share yours
But screw that, life's rock'n roll

*originally: "we are beautiful" If one's head is beautiful, surely it is because of being high. At least turkish idiom says that.
.
*originally: "sazı eline almak" -to take the instrument one's hand; means consistently talk or complain about something. Closest idom must be to ride on one's hobbyhorse.

English lyrics for those who asked for:
Oof! What a life
What a mind
Puts you under bastinado
We flow like a brook
We float in the woe
Yeah we fly ‘cos we are pretty
Consistent fantasy is reality
Is there death or is it a dream (there is death, life is a rock’n roll)
Let my woes pour into yours
Wish your wine of love filled with reveries
You tell my guitar, I am tired
Couldn’t fit in, everywhere I was exiled
We are like gulls befitting the sea
We go wherever the wind blows
Consistent fantasy is reality
There is death and this is a dream
Let my woes pour into yours
Hey shake it, life is rock’n roll

Sığamadım, her yerden kovuldum."
