He was born in Lebanon, the son of an Italian diplomat and an American singer. According to legend, he learned to play the guitar aged 10 to impress a German girl in his class.
As a rather cosmopolitan teenager Mazzolini began a career in a variety of jazz, rock and punk bands before meeting Rome, Italy based producer Pierluigi Giombini. Both shared a passion for synthesizers and started working together. The first release, Masterpiece, was a minor hit in 1982.
His footnote in charts history is his 1983 release I like Chopin (popular opinion notwithstanding, the piano motif herein is not a Chopin composition), which topped continental European charts for weeks.
The follow-up song Lunatic and the eponymous album also entered the Top 20 across Europe, but the 1984 album Telephone Mama was less successful.
Since then Mazzolini has released more albums. Not counting the occasional hit compilation with yet another "I Like Chopin" remix, the latest work was produced in 1997, an Italian only album called "Viewpoint".
Recently, Gazebo released a new album "The Syndrone" (2008).
Sun Goes down on milky way
Gazebo Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Mephistopheles has got my soul for some promises
All the girls and boys, animals and toys
They can't understand insanity
They say I'm out of it, and I can just admit
The sun goes down on milky way
And I touch your velvet face
And I love you forever
Counting all the days, Voodoo laws and plagues
And Dictatorships that tried to stop me from loving you
Shaking jungle beat, burning desert heat
And the freezing ice I crossed for you can't affect me now
I love you anyhow.
The sun goes down on milky way
And I touch your velvet face
Moon is high on milky way
And I love you forever
The sun went down so long before
I could reach for your embrace
Moon is high beyond the sky
But my hope is forever.
A moonlight rendez-vous with you
Why don't we do it
A moonlight rendez-vous with you
Why can't we do it till the morning light comes out
In this song, Gazebo sings about his unrelenting love for someone, even in the face of difficulties and societal pressures. He sets the scene for a night of dancing where he has given his soul to the devil, represented by Mephistopheles, in exchange for the promises of love. Gazebo references the animals and toys present but notes that they can't understand the insanity of his actions, leaving him feeling out of touch with reality. He acknowledges that others may see him as crazy but he refuses to give up on his love.
Throughout the song, Gazebo highlights the obstacles he has faced in trying to be with his lover. He references Voodoo laws, plagues, and dictatorships that have tried to stop him from loving this person. He also mentions the treacherous terrain he has traversed, including the burning desert heat and freezing ice, to pursue his love interest. Despite all of this, he proclaims his unwavering love for this person.
The chorus of the song describes the beauty of the milky way and how the sun and moon seem to set the perfect backdrop for his love story. He touches the velvet face of his companion and expresses his admiration for them. The last verse invites his love to a moonlight rendezvous, suggesting that they do not waste any time because life is short.

My favorite version of "Sun Goes Down on Milky Way." The beginning really sets the tone; it almost makes me feel like I'm floating through the Milky Way on zero gravity. Magnificent Mr. Gazebo!
