Just finished "Murder Machine". If DeMeo wasn't bad enough, he also somehow managed to find an entire crew of potential serial killers and groom them to his likeness. His behaviour (not just the murders, but the other horrific "businesses" he was engaged in) sickened other mobsters. But, being the morally vacant people they are, they changed the rule of "you can't do that" to "you can't tell me you're doing that", as long as he kept making money for them. Doesn't speak well for the mob that his underlings (the one's that lived anyway) were given spots in other crime families after Roy was disposed of.

My parents did business with the DeMeos and always had the utmost respect for them, but I never met them, nor knew who they were or what they did. Good to know mob connections helped put me through private school! (It was some small muffler company my Dad was franchising). I will say that Mom's former boyfriend Anthony Mirra couldn't have been more polite when, at ten, I asked him how he knew Mom, and what he did for a living. He said he was in "business." Louie Millito was killed because he was playing both sides of the fence during the castellano hit, Sammy did not want to kill him but planned the hit on the orders of Frankie Decicco and Gotti. Nicky Cowboy was killed because he was an uncontrollable drug addict with a lot of debts. He didn’t like Paul when the plan to kill him was made, none of them did. They wanted to control the family and also save Gotti and Ruggieros lives who would most likely be killed if Paul got a hold of ruggieros tapes.

This crew had access to a very large garbage dump located right off the belt parkway just a couple of miles from Carnarsie Brooklyn and the Gemini lounge. I grew up just a mile or 2 from that same dump but on the east side of it and during the summers the smell from that place was horrendous , definitely could smell rotting flesh . That dump is no longer and NYC has turned it into a park .

I grew up on Troy Ave. not far from the Gemini Lounge, and I remember when DeMeo took over the bar and renamed it The Gemini Lounge. I remember that shortly after he took it over in 1966, there were already lots of rumors of what was going on inside, and someone had taken a knife and carved on the front door "House of Ill Repute". What would you like to know about Tommy D? The obvious ones are he was built nothing like Joe Pesci more like a Prize Fighter. The shoeshine incident isn't when they actually killed Billy it would be a few weeks later at a different meeting and more because Jimmy Burke wanted to keep his bookmaking operation he had taking control of once Billy went away. Tommy was killed for many reason including the killing of another John Gotti protégé Foxy. Along with attempting to rape Karen Hill who Paul Vario was currently having a affair with Tommy made a bunch of wrong turns. It's rumored John Gotti himself may have participated in the execution but some say other wise.

Happy that this is being covered in this context and not glorified as some hero like those who idiolize the mafia tend to do. I grew up in an area, of mostly black people with a lot of gangs. I remember there were people who openly had multiple bodies and where essentially serial killers but were celebrated as fearless gangsters. Turns out a lot of them had serious mental health issues which coupled with the environment turned them into demons. All of them were murdered eventually or were sent to jail or mental health institutions...a tiny few were never even caught and are still free.

I'm not from the US or New York but theres a guy similar to Roy called Brian Glaze Gibbs from East New York who was an enforcer for Fat Cat Nichols. He reached a deal after admitting to 6 murders but has has something reaching De Mayo territory. Probably not as much but was probably the most feared street killer in his time. I think he suffers with bi polar or something along those lines. Monster kody from LA is another serial killer who used gang banging to do what they enjoyed.

My grandfather did some “ side work “ for some of these people in the Detroit area my mom is in her late 70’s now and still won’t talk a lot about some of the things she knew my grandfather did. He was the best safecracker in the Eastern United States at the time and the one story that bothers me that she did tell me was about a African American club owner who was partners with an Italian guy. My parents had their wedding reception at his club. They found him in his trunk, without his head and they never did find his head. Apparently Roy was my great uncle. I never understood why I have a high level of aggression and not afraid of violence or to do violence when no one else in my immediate family does. At 13 I went to Boston to visit family. While there a kid that always bulling my younger cousin started messing with him. I chased that kid right into that kids house house and started pounding on him in his living room infront of the kids father. I remember my grandfather saying that day “ you just like your great uncle Roy”. At that time it didn’t mean anything to me, now I know where where it comes from

I've dealt with people like him and I have to say these are individuals you'll never wanna have anything to do with unless you absolutely have to. There's no safe whit them , they'll top you for the most ridicule reasons and aside from some perks of having them in your corner "eventually" you won't want them in your like . trust me on that.

They did have the Demeo crew in the Iceman movie. Most of the movie was a big lie. They based the movie on the story Richard Kuklinski told authorities, but there is no proof that Kuklinski had any connection to the Gambino family let alone the close business association that the movie portrayed. I do agree that a movie based on this crew would be highly entertaining. They don't even have to embellish. The Demeo crew had a lot of money coming in due to their chop shop business. They murdered a lot of people over those cars. At the end they started killing one another.

A very close friends father was killed by Roy demeo after Sammy gravano came down from New York to chambersburg in Trenton, New Jersey. Not going to name a name. But he was found in the trunk of his Cadillac at Philadelphia airport parking lot in 1980. Black rose in his mouth for the family

The whole story about Roy is heavily disputed by people in the know. Michael franses being one of them. He was a bad man and certainly killed people but the amount being thrown around is probably a heavy exaggeration. Contrary to popular belief the mob actually takes killing very serious and all of it has to be run by and approved by the boss and a lot of people doubt the boss would approve of that many killings. An if he did it own his own without approve he himself would’ve been dead a lot sooner

Killings between made men have to be approved however a made man can kill anyone non made for any reason rhey choose without an OK from any boss.

Great as usual. Couple of points, the correct pronunciation of Nino's surname is "Gaji". Also I'm not entirely convinced of Roy's son's recollection of his father's reaction to the killing of the innocent man. Perhaps it's true maybe not. Maybe Roy was faking. According to Sammy they killed innocent people all the time as told to him by Roy directly. If you were an ethnic male drunk at the bar at last call you could be snatched and killed to "keep his boys sharp". As you said there were many such disappearances but we'll never know unless someone in the crew gives up the information. Testa and Senter are still around right? At least one of them is serving life in prison, I'm going off of memory, I could definitely be wrong.

Upto a certain point, one can understand how a Sociopath/Psychopath kills, they feel no remorse, they feel no guilt, they feel no real fear like most people do, they have no empathy. So I think that "regular" people who are not one of those two mentioned before, are actually worse human beings than atual Psycopaths, because they do have empathy, guilt and remorse....and yet, they kill for money and power.

I bet I am talking to a lot of people very close to one of his most famous crew members. I bet I know his cousins, stories, and one person never named who was there when he died, and have access to every known hit. I also bet I am writing a book on it and talk to one of his main detectives every day and a crew family member, nearly every day. The cop was probably thinking that anything inside the trunk would be heard or felt when he was jumping up and down on the vehicle like it was a kids bounce house but the body and all the contents in the trunk were probably frozen to the car because of the frigid temperatures not allowing it to bounce around while the cop did a ballet routine across the top of the vehicle.

I was born and raised in Canarsie Brooklyn. The Testas lived up the block from me on 87th street. There was Anthony, Joey, Frank, Patty and Dennis Testa. My cousins husband was related to them. Anthony Senter had an apartment on 87th also. I am still friends with Anthony Senters sister Maryjane and some of the Testa family. Patty Testa got killed back in 1992 at his shop on Foster Avenue around the block from me, by Anthony Gaspipes people. Anthony Senters uncle Robert owned the Canarsie recycling company. He had trucks pick up the dumpsters and they ended up at the dump on the Belt Pkwy. There were other guys we knew like the Vario crew, Nicky and Jo Jo Corozzo, Vic Amuso, Tommy Red, Mike Yanotti, Vinny Dimino among others. Miss the good old Canarsie days!

Being half sicilian and half calabrese, i can attest to how things were and how important family was to the older generation, things are alot different now, i just use to hang out at parties and have a good time, i just wasn't interested in making money that way, but if you got into business with them, it was no joke.
