Streetlight
Gen Rosso Lyrics

Esco nella strada mescolato fra la gente,
Sento il respiro della mia città.
Entro nello smog
Che sta in sosta permanente
Ma c′è una magia questa sera.
Batte sopra i tetti
Una pioggia impertinente
E accende un mondo di virtualità;
Vola un mozzicone
Da un balcone fatiscente:
Sembra un faro nella notte nera.
Streetlight! Streetlight!
(Strum.)
Streetlight! Streetlight!
Anche se la folla
Striscia accanto indifferente,
Questa è la mia gente, è la mia città.
Tra i filari di lampioni a luce intermittente
C'è una luce nuova questa sera!
Streetlight! Streetlight!
The song "Streetlight" by Gen Rosso depicts the feeling of being in a crowded and bustling city at night. The singer describes walking out into the street, amidst the people and the noises of the city, feeling the pulse of the city through their breath. Despite the smog that always lingers, there's a certain magic in the air that night. The streetlights illuminate the rooftops, and a persistent rain creates a virtual world of reflections and a unique ambiance that takes over the atmosphere. The city is alive, and every moment becomes an experience.
Although surrounded by a crowd of people, the feeling of disconnection still lingers, as if they are indifferent to the singer's presence. But the poem reminds us that this is the singer's city, and these are 'our people,' and there is a connection between them and the city. Even with the intermittent lights of the streetlamps, tonight there is a new light that shines, bringing a new sensation of hope.
This song is not just about the experience of being in a city at night, but it is also a reflection of the human experience. We all live in crowded and noisy worlds, where so much passes us by. But sometimes, a single moment can inspire a sense of belonging, of understanding, and of hope.

Entro nello smog
I enter the haze
Che sta in sosta permanente
That hangs in a permanent pause
Ma c′è una magia questa sera.
But there's magic in the air tonight
Batte sopra i tetti
Rain beats down on the rooftops
Una pioggia impertinente
An impudent rain
E accende un mondo di virtualità;
And it ignites a world of virtuality
Vola un mozzicone

From a dilapidated balcony
Sembra un faro nella notte nera.
It looks like a lighthouse in the black night
Anche se la folla
Even though the crowd
Striscia accanto indifferente,
Slides by indifferently
Questa è la mia gente, è la mia città.
This is my people, this is my town

There's a new light tonight!
