Summers graduated from Duncanville High School in 1957 and attended Arlington State College, now known as the University of Texas at Arlington. That same year, he formed the rockabilly band The Rebels and performed on Joe Bill's Country Picnic on KRLD, where they were spotted by songwriter Jed Tarver. This led to the band being signed by newly-found Jan Records. Their first record was released on February 1, 1958, under the name of Gene Summers & His Rebels.

"Dance Dance Dance" by Gene Summers is a fun and upbeat song about the joys of dancing to music. The lyrics are mostly in Japanese, with English phrases interspersed throughout. The opening lines of the song, "Hahaha hora dance dance music, hahaha dance dance dance," set the tone for the whole song - it's all about dancing and having a good time. The repetition of the phrase "never give up" throughout the song also reinforces this idea of perseverance and enjoying life to the fullest.
In the chorus, there's a reference to "fever," which could be interpreted as the feverish excitement of dancing, or perhaps a more metaphorical fever of being caught up in the moment. The line "poketto ni yume tsumekonde" ("stuffing my pockets with dreams") suggests that this song is about escaping from the mundane reality of everyday life and finding joy and meaning in dancing with friends.
The Japanese verses are a little harder to interpret without a good grasp of the language, but they seem to be about the joys of dancing with friends and how it's a great way to escape from the stresses of modern life. The repeated refrain of "fire" adds to the energetic feel of the song, and the final line, "ah never give up," reinforces the idea that no matter what life throws at you, there's always something worth dancing for.
