Some of his classic recordings include "School of Rock 'n Roll", "Straight Skirt", "Nervous", "Gotta Lotta That", and "Twixteen". Summers was inducted into the Rockabilly Hall of Fame in 1997 and The Southern Legends Entertainment & Performing Arts Hall of Fame in 2005. He still performs worldwide and celebrated his 50th anniversary as a recording artist in 2008 with the release of Reminisce Cafe.

Summers graduated from Duncanville High School in 1957 and attended Arlington State College, now known as the University of Texas at Arlington. That same year, he formed the rockabilly band The Rebels and performed on Joe Bill's Country Picnic on KRLD, where they were spotted by songwriter Jed Tarver. This led to the band being signed by newly-found Jan Records. Their first record was released on February 1, 1958, under the name of Gene Summers & His Rebels.

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again her books when you look at it from a writers perspective, she has good writing techniques. It’s just again the men in all of her books are toxic. If someone can understand the fact that the men are toxic, then it shouldn’t matter whether there a teenager, an adult or a three year-old. I actually enjoy Hoover’s books for this reason( She teaches what toxic relationships can look like. It may not be the best kind of teaching, but she does teach it). As well, when you look at this generation of teenage girls, they’re not as naïve as some of the past generations, statistically, this generation is the lesser naïve out of all of them. You’ll have to understand I’m not just teenage girls read them a few teenage boys and adults also read her books. To be fair: he set her dad’s car on fire and felt absolutely horrible after finding out there was a girl in that house when it caught on fire, and he never would’ve set the car on fire if he hadn’t of been grieving over his mother’s suicide (true he had the wrong idea of why she killed herself but he “saw red” as some would say ig).
He did not ruin her career, she said herself that she found out later in life that she preferred TEACHING acting over the actual acting and it made her happy.

The reason her books give me the ick us because she labels them as romance, which they are not. They are literally women’s fiction novels with very toxic love interests, and tons of abuse, and then a happy ending. I’ll never forget the fact that she tried to SELL A COLOURING BOOK for it ends with us, a book about DOMESTIC VIOLENCE. Tells me a lot about the kind of person she is.

I have personally never read this book but I read It ends with us because opinions were so controversial. I hated it. I removed every Colleen Hoover book from my reading list. The way she portrays characters in her book and assumes that specific type of behaviour is ok when it isn’t is absolutely disgusting. I think that she shouldn’t promote this kind of stuff. I also was told that her son sexually assaulted someone but she hid it and now supports sexual assault but I’m not sure about that part.

Honestly even i had to force myself to read the first book and trust me it took A YEAR for me to finish half of the book then i reached the part of dain's coronation specifically cardan and jude dancing then it only took 2 days to finish the other half and rest of the books of this series

Her book Verity is the WORST!!! There’s a part in the book where the mom commits horrifying child abuse, it made me sick to my stomach. There’s also a part where she says “I was the cheese and he was the mouse”… I’ve genuinely never felt so uncomfortable reading a book
