Gene Vincent & His Blue Caps Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Well be-bop-a-Lula she's my baby
Be-bop-a-Lula I don't mean maybe
Be-bop-a-Lula she's my baby
Be-bop-a-Lula I don't mean maybe
Be-bop-a-Lula she's my baby doll
My baby doll, my baby doll

Well she's the girl in the red blue jeans
She's the queen of all the teens
She's the one that I know
She's the woman that loves me so

Say be-bop-a-Lula she's my baby
Be-bop-a-Lula I don't mean maybe
Be-bop-a-Lula she's my baby doll
My baby doll, my baby doll
Let's rock!

Well now she's the one that's got that beat
She's the woman with the flyin' feet
She's the one that walks around the store
She's the one that gets more more more

Be-bop-a-Lula she's my baby
Be-bop-a-Lula I don't mean maybe
Be-bop-a-Lula she's my baby doll
My baby doll, my baby doll
Let's rock again, now!

Well be-bop-a-Lula she's my baby
Be-bop-a-Lula I don't mean maybe
Be-bop-a-Lula she's my baby
Be-bop-a-Lula I don't mean maybe

Be-bop-a-Lula she's my baby doll
My baby doll, my baby doll

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Gene Vincent's "Be Bop a Lula" are a simple declaration of love and devotion to a woman. The singer repeats the titular phrase multiple times throughout the song to convey his intense feelings for her. The first verse establishes her as his special someone, using the repetition of "she's my baby" to reinforce the depth of his affection. The second verse describes her physical appearance, highlighting her status as the most desirable girl around. The third verse emphasizes her musical prowess and energy, presenting her as the embodiment of the rock and roll culture that the song celebrates. Through each verse, the singer repeats the chorus with escalating enthusiasm, culminating in the final "let's rock again, now!" as he invites the listener to join in his celebration of love and music.

J'adore les chansons de Jean Vincent c'est mon chanteur préféré

@stephenvincent4989

I saw Gene in 60’s London he was on the same bill as Eddie Cochran, they were truly authentic and special.
Sadly it was just a week before Eddie died in a car crash - certainly the passing of a true
Rock-N-Roll legend.

@hothemeep1219

How weird the 60's were. They started with Cochran and Vincent. They ended with the hippies

@Conn30Mtenor

That's why British RnR is vastly superior to the American strain. Your frame of reference is Gene and Eddie. the USA was Elvis. A cartoon character.
