The trio … Read Full Bio ↴Genghis Tron is a three-piece band from Poughkeepsie, USA.
The trio formed in early 2004 where they met as students at Vassar College. They recorded a demo in 2004 entitled Laser Bitch, and released their debut EP Cloak Of Love the following year.
"Dead Mountain Mouth", the band's first full-length, was released by the same label the following year. The newer material was a more well-blended and demented attack, focusing less on the cut-and-paste mayhem of the early songs and instead honing in on flow, song structure, and originality creating what has never been created before.
They have completed recording "Board Up the House", their second full-length album. It was released in February 2008. As of October 2010, they were on an indefinite hiatus.
In August 2020, the band announced that they got back together in a new lineup and that they will release a new album on Relapse Records in 2021.

By sun-up the night's fully dressed giving our tired hands rest
At twilight the day sheds its skin
Don't lay down
Sheets rise
You sleep like the end is night
You sleep like the bed's on fire
Hands in the night
At twilight the day sheds its skin letting our starved hands in
By sun-up the night's fully dressed giving our tired hands rest
The lyrics to Genghis Tron's song "Asleep on the Forest Floor" suggest a sense of time passing and the cyclical nature of nighttime and daytime. The opening lines "At twilight the day sheds its skin letting our starved hands in" create a vivid image of the end of the day where the sun sets and the day comes to close. The phrase "letting our starved hands in" could be referring to a need for rest and relaxation, as though the hands are reaching out to embrace the night.
The next lines "By sun-up the night's fully dressed giving our tired hands rest" suggest the beginning of a new day. As the night comes to an end, the day is "fully dressed" and ready to begin. The lyric "giving our tired hands rest" indicates that the night has provided a period of rest for the weary hands.
The final lines "Don't lay down, sheets rise, you sleep like the end is night, you sleep like the bed's on fire, hands in the night, cut through the thickest hours" add a sense of urgency and danger to the lyrics. The line about the sheets rising creates a vivid image of an unsettling force, and the lyrics suggest that the time to sleep could be dangerous or risky. However, despite the potential danger, the hands of the sleeper are able to "cut through the thickest hours" and find rest.
