Genki Rockets first appeared in Lumines II in 2006. The band has subsequently been featured in other video games such as, No More Heroes, Lumines Live!, and Child of Eden.
Their first music video, "Heavenly Star", designed by the Japanese visual artist, Glamoove Inc., was inspired by "Take On Me" by the Norwegian pop group a-ha. In 2010, Genki Rockets helped promote Sony's "make.believe" 3D event in Japan, with their music video, "make.believe" making them the first band to host a live 3D concert.
The group's debut album, "Genki Rockets I: Heavenly Star" was released on July 2, 2008. Their second album "Genki Rockets II: No Border Between Us", was released on September 7, 2011
