And nothing for the children, the children

So that they all can live

One for little John, Claudette and one for Tony
Yes dem a the future and Jah Jah have shown me
[Chorus]
In Gentleman's song For The Children, the artist calls for the attention and care of children, who he believes are being neglected by the society. He points out that Babylon, a term often used to describe oppressive systems, does not care for the welfare of children. The chorus emphasizes that there is not enough being done for the children and that their future is being jeopardized. Gentleman emphasizes that righteous and loving actions are necessary to protect and give hope to the children. He further calls for paving a way for them to live a better life and encourages parents to teach and guide their children towards the right path.
The verse also points out that children are not receiving positive guidance from their elders. They are being taught negative attitudes and behaviors instead of being nurtured to become productive members of society. The artist urges society, especially big investors, to take responsibility for the children's welfare and not lead them to destruction. The song also highlights the need to address the high level of violence and illegal gun use among the youth, which is a serious concern and requires immediate action.
