It's over now it's over now
Through those raging storm
We cover now we cover now
Rainy days dem gone
It's over now, it's over now
Wicked man dem hafi calm
Run for cover now for cover now
Martin Jondo:
Now I am rising
And smiling
Leaving
And jammin'
Breaking
The shackles around my neck
Now I know how to trust in the sweet love
No I got the keys to the door oh lord
And Jah Jah sweet light is shining in my heart
Gentleman:
I remember how we used to sit
Down worry 'bout life
But true we confident
We never ever give up the fight
The music with the blessing
And Jah show we the light
Hafi mek dem seh we move upright
Watch deh clear the way
And mek we buss weh like tide
Babylon dem try fi track we tek the next flight
A who dem try fi diss me wonder
Who dem try fi fight
Chorus
Tamika:
I've got to get myself together now
Forgetting the past it's all 'bout the here and now
now I know I could make it if I try
And Jah never let my perseverance die
'cause I want to give my all and all
Gentleman:
chant some redemption and give Jah Jah the praise
Babylon your time is done and not to mention your days
light up the fire now you can't stop the blaze
revolutionary mood dem can't tek ina the place
you can't pollute me and you can't change me ways
think she man a sleep a you think man a gaze
I a sit down and a study fi survive the next phase
She say and he say and we
Chorus
The lyrics to Gentleman's song Rainy Days talk about overcoming difficult times and celebrating the end of those dark days. The song starts off by saying "rainy days dem gone," suggesting that whatever hardship the singer faced in the past has now been overcome. They then speak to the idea of covering through the raging storm, a metaphor for enduring tough times, and running for cover as an escape from it all. The reference to "wicked man" suggests that there were some people who contributed to the difficult times but that they must now calm down.
Martin Jondo takes over vocals and talks about breaking free from the shackles that held him down. He's now rising and smiling, trusting in sweet love, and has the keys to the door. Jah Jah sweet light shines in his heart, and he's free from whatever hardships once plagued him.
Gentleman chimes in, talking about how he and his friends used to worry about life but were confident and never gave up the fight. He speaks about music being a blessing, guiding them towards the light, and moving upright to pave the way. Babylon tries to track them, but they take the next flight and wonder who is trying to diss them or fight them.
Tamika speaks about getting herself together and focusing on the present and the future. She knows she can make it if she tries, and Jah never lets perseverance die. She wants to give her all and all.
Gentleman comes back in and speaks about redemption and giving Jah Jah the praise. Babylon's time is done, and nothing can stop the fire from blazing. A revolutionary mood that can't be tainted by Babylon's ways. Their sleepless study has prepared them to survive whatever comes next.
