Gentry’s songs crossover many musical genres, from indie to pop, folk to jazz, ambient to classical, and Vaudeville to Americana. And his live performances run wildly from passionate heartstring pulling songs of nostalgia & love, to fiendishly outlandish sweating swilling blues-infused cabaret. Start to finish, it’s a show.
After the 2007 release of his last record “No War”, Gentry is touring solo & playing new songs from his forthcoming album, planned for 2009.
Autumn 2009, Gentry cooperated with Jesse Brewster to release his English version of a classic Dutch popsong called 'Avond', which was originally performed by famous Dutch singer-songwriter Boudewijn de Groot. The song is available as an mp3 on various downloadportals.

A block from my home
They filled me full of holes
I fell so low
Now the smoke is clear
I put away my fears
And I am not alone
I'm not alone
Release me
War is over now
I surrender peacefully
Let go
Release me
War is over now
War is over now
These city lights
They're burnin' bright
Tear down the walls
Down the walls, down the walls
Look into my face
Look into my eyes
This sacrifice
So you survive
I let it go
Release me
War is over now
I surrender peacefully
Let go
Release me
War is over now
War is over now
Sometimes you can't ask why
Some live and some die
You just hope they
carry your story on
It's been a long road
Sometimes so cold
But you are not alone
You're not alone
I let it go
And release me
War is over now
I surrender peacefully
Let go
Release me
War is over now
I surrender peacefully
Let go
Release me
War is over now
War is over now
The lyrics in Gentry Bronson's song "Now" describe a personal struggle with the aftermath of violence and the internal battles that come with it. The opening lines reveal that the singer has been shot and left to die on a street near their home, which has caused them to confront their own mortality and fears. However, as the smoke clears, the singer puts away their fears and acknowledges that they are not alone. They become determined to let go of the trauma and move on from the war they have been fighting.
The chorus of the song, "Release me, war is over now, I surrender peacefully, let go," echoes the singer's desire to release themselves from the burden of their experiences and to lay down their weapons in the face of peace. The lyrics express a hope for reconciliation and a sense of closure, as the singer seeks to conclude the conflict within themselves.
Furthermore, the song's last verse pays tribute to the singer's struggle and serves as a reminder that their story and legacy will continue even if they do not. The lyrics convey that while the road has been long and difficult, the singer is not alone and they are ready to let go and move on now that the war is over.
