Genus Ordinis Dei were established in 2011 from a circle of friends residing in the same town. Between 2011 and 2012, the band sculpted its musical identity, melding the new millennium metal with symphonic sonorities.
At the start of 2012, their first self-produced album came out, "The Middle", heavily backed by an intensive run of live shows throughout Italy and Europe.
In 2013, thanks to their greatly received first album, they engaged with Mr Fabrizio Scotti, who has been working in the Italian music industry for many years. Together they started a project that opened up an opportunity to work with Mr Marco “Maki” Coti Zelati (Lacuna Coil) as producer.
With this new heavy crew, Genus Ordinis Dei started the recording of the new EP in February 2014, at the JDM Studio of Mr Jonas Macullo.
By late 2014 their new discographic project was completed, and since signing a world wide deal with Metal Music Bookings & Management the band are ready to take the world by symphonic storm. Stay tuned for news coming soon!
Hail and Kill
Genus Ordinis Dei Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
I am calling from the valley of the kings
With nothing to atone
A dark march lies ahead, together we will ride
Like thunder from the sky
May your sword stay wet like a young girl in her prime
Hold your hammers high
I was born to die
Hear me while I live
As I look into your eyes
None shall hear a lie
Power and dominion are taken by the will
By divine right hail and kill
Hail and kill
(Hail, hail, hail and kill) hail and kill
My father was a wolf
I′m a kinsman of the slain
Sworn to rise again
I will bring salvation, punishment and pain
The hammer of hate is our faith
Power and dominion are taken by the will
By divine right hail and kill
Kill and kill
(Hail, hail, hail and kill) hail and kill
Hail, hail,...
The lyrics to "Hail and Kill" by Genus Ordinis Dei are a battle cry and a call to arms for brothers in arms to unite and conquer the challenges ahead. The singer is calling from the valley of the kings, with nothing to atone and a dark march lying ahead. They are urging their fellow warriors to ride together like thunder from the sky, their swords staying wet like a young girl in her prime. The lyrics remind the listener that blood and death are waiting like a raven in the sky, but the singer was born to die. They encourage their brethren to hear them while they live and to look into their eyes, for none shall hear a lie. Power and dominion are taken by the will, and by divine right, they hail and kill. The song is a powerful reflection on the realities of combat and the importance of strength, will, and power.
From the lyrics, one can interpret that the singer is a warrior born to die, but also one who holds power and dominion through the will of the gods. The call to action is a reminder that in order to conquer and achieve greatness, one must have faith in oneself and their abilities. The repetition of "hail and kill" throughout the song emphasizes the importance of power and will in battle.
