The River
Geoffrey Oryema Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Paint me a picture of a river
And let it flow
Just let it flow
It will flow and wash away our differences
And love will grow

You have the power to deliver
So let it flow
When I dip my hand into your water
I feel your soul

Nafikiliya Koruba Shamba
Nafikiliya Koruba Shamba

I'll do the fire by your river of metled stone
You can drink the silver of my moonlight
As our fire burns
The fire burns

I'll slide inside your silent water
Like polished stone
Then break the surface with a shiver
While the river flows
While the river flows

Nafikiliya Koruba Shamba
Nafikiliya Koruba Shamba

Paint me a picture of the river
And let it flow
Let it flow
All across the deserts and the mountains
We'll let it go
Let it go

Nafikiliya Koruba Shamba
Nafikiliya Koruba Shamba

Makambo I used to listen to on long walks when I was a teen before I knew who the artist was. Makambo was a piece I could never forget and it came included on some easy listening cassette tape from some general store. I would have my Walkman and take long nature walks with Makambo playing. I just discovered who the artist was bout 30 minutes ago on a Facebook clip with the song Anaka❤ so grateful for the re connect

OMG, this man and his music melts my heart--especially this song. After newly discovering Geoffrey, I soon realized he has passed away and now my heart is broken. May Geoffrey Oryema live forevermore in that beautiful "Land of Anaka" where hope and dreams will be realized, and where "The River' will flow and wash away our differences and love will grow."
