Gratos recuerdos de mi juventud.

Escuché El Mesías en junio de 1965, dirigido por el Maestro Pablo Casals, en el Festival Casals.

this piece is a french overture (usually used as an opening to an opera/oratorio. in two parts: 1 slow with fitted rhythms, 2 using imitative texture)

it is in 4/4 time, E minor

in the A section is written in homophobic texture
the tempo is “grave” and the strings play a dotted rhythm in
E minor. it’s creates a dramatic feeling

in the B section, the opening subject is introduced by 1st violins and oboes.
still in E minor, it how has 3 voices is polyphonic with a tonal answer (answers are not identical to the subject, slight variation in the intervals).
the tempo is “allegro moderato”

I used this piece in my wedding, for the procession. Breathtaking piece.

All I can say is...wow. It's amazing what music can do for the soul and these people did an absolutely fantasic job. They deserve major credit.
