From head of household, to undercover budget state director, to lieutenant governor. Benson DuBois (Robert Guillaume) does it all.
@PrimalSavage
The 70s and 80s had the best theme music in television history
@oldschooldogy316
I love this intro so much even though I rarely watched Benson. I have seen maybe 5-6 episodes total, but I have loved the intro since I was a young kid in the 80's. Some of the shows from the 70's and 80's had intros that were so good that I actually looked forward to watching them even if I didn't watch the show like Dynasty, Dallas, Cheers, Mary Tyler Moore, The Love Boat, Hill Street Blues, T.J. Hooker, etc. I wish current TV shows had intros this good.
@darishi9
Man……..the Hill Street Blues hits me every time, it was always time for bed when that came on, that theme has always stuck with me, good times

I remember they used to have bumpers with James Noble saying "Benson, starring Robert Guillaume, will be right back", and I always assumed it was because people were mispronouncing the star's name and ABC wanted to make sure we all knew how to say it properly. :)
@DENo1MatchGameFan
James also said "'Benson' was videotaped in front of a studio audience" during the ending credits on the first season.
@mwilsonbc
@DENo1MatchGameFan That's true! Very of the era. I guess Mr. Noble was the voice of the show, and Mr. Guillaume was the face.
@VaultMasterDBT
I assumed that since Guillaume (whose real name was Robert Williams; he chose Guillaume for show business because it is French for "William") was such a prominent star at the time that it warranted James Noble's bumper announcement to mention him by name.

I wonder if the men's suits were by Botany 500. They sure looked that way to me.
As Benson was nearing the end of its run, technically Missy Gold was passing the torch of acting to sister Tracey, who was just starting up Growing Pains in 1985.
