Born in East Finchley, Middlesex, Michael rose to fame after forming the pop duo Wham! with Andrew Ridgeley in 1981. Their first two albums, "Fantastic" (1983) and "Make It Big" (1984), reached number one on the US Billboard 200 and UK Albums Chart. They had commercial success with singles "Wham Rap! (Enjoy What You Do)", "Young Guns (Go for It)", "Bad Boys", "Club Tropicana", "Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go", "Last Christmas", "Everything She Wants", “Freedom”, and “I'm Your Man”. Their 1985 tour in China was the first by a Western popular music act and generated worldwide media coverage. Michael took part in Band Aid's UK number-one single "Do They Know It's Christmas?" in 1984 and performed at the following year's Live Aid concert.
Michael's first solo single, "Careless Whisper" (1984), reached number one in over 20 countries, including the UK and US. The second solo single, "A Different Corner", also reached number one in 1986. After Wham! disbanded that year, Michael released the number-one duet with Aretha Franklin, "I Knew You Were Waiting (For Me)". His debut solo album, "Faith" (1987), stayed at number one on the Billboard 200 for 12 weeks and topped the UK Albums Chart. It is one of the best-selling albums of all time, having sold over 25 million copies worldwide. The singles "Faith", "Father Figure", "One More Try", and "Monkey" reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100. Michael became the best-selling music artist of 1988, and "Faith" was awarded Album of the Year at the 1989 Grammy Awards. Michael's second solo album, "Listen Without Prejudice Vol. 1" (1990), was also a number one in the UK and yielded the Billboard Hot 100 number one "Praying for Time" and the worldwide hit "Freedom! '90". Michael went on to release a series of multimillion-selling albums, including "Older" (1996), "Ladies & Gentlemen: The Best of George Michael" (1998), "Songs from the Last Century" (1999), "Patience" (2004), and "Twenty Five" (2006). The albums earned him multiple hits such as "Jesus to a Child", "Fastlove", "Outside", "Amazing", and "An Easier Affair".
Michael came out as gay in 1998 and was an active LGBT rights campaigner and HIV/AIDS charity fundraiser. His personal life, drug use, and legal troubles made headlines following an arrest for public lewdness in 1998 and multiple drug-related offenses. The 2005 documentary "A Different Story" covered his career and personal life. Michael's "25 Live" tour spanned three tours from 2006 to 2008. Michael fell into a coma in 2011 during a bout with pneumonia but later recovered. He performed his final concert at London's Earls Court in 2012. Michael died of heart disease on Christmas Day in 2016 at his home in Goring-on-Thames, Oxfordshire.

Jesus to a Child
George Michael Lyrics

In your eyes, I guess
You heard me cry
You smiled at me
Like Jesus to a child
I'm blessed
I know
And Heaven stole
You smiled at me
Like Jesus to a child
And what have I learned
From all this pain
I thought I'd never feel the same
About anyone
Or anything again
But now I know
When you find your love
When you know that it exists
Then the lover that you miss
Will come to you on those cold, cold nights
When you've been loved
When you know it holds such bliss
Then the lover that you kissed
Will comfort you when there's no hope in sight
Sadness
In my eyes
No one guessed
Or no one tried
You smiled at me
Like Jesus to a child
Loveless and cold
With your last breath
You saved my soul
You smiled at me
Like Jesus to a child
And what have I learned
From all these tears
I've waited for you all those years
And just when it began
He took you away
But I still say
When you find love
When you know that it exists
Then the lover that you miss
Will come to you on those cold, cold nights
When you've been loved
When you know it holds such bliss
Then the lover that you kissed
Will comfort you when there's no hope in sight
So the words you could not say
I'll sing them for you
And the love we would have made
I'll make it for two
For every single memory
Has become a part of me
You will always be
My love
Well, I've been loved
So I know just what love is
And the lover that I kissed
Is always by my side
Oh, the lover I still miss
Was Jesus to a child
The lyrics in George Michael's song "Jesus to a Child" are a tribute to his lover, Anselmo Feleppa, who died from an AIDS-related illness in 1993. The song describes the kindness and love that Feleppa showed Michael, comparing it to the love that Jesus had for a child. Michael sings about the pain and sadness he felt after losing his lover and how he learned that true love is a rare and beautiful thing.
The opening lines, "Kindness in your eyes, I guess you heard me cry," describe how Feleppa showed empathy and compassion towards Michael, even during his darkest moments. Michael goes on to say that he felt blessed knowing Feleppa and that he was like a gift from heaven. He compares Feleppa's smile to the kindness and love that Jesus showed to a child.
The second verse continues with Michael expressing his pain and how he thought he would never feel the same about anyone again. However, he learned that when you find true love, it is a powerful force that can bring comfort even in the coldest and darkest of nights. The final verse describes the sadness Michael felt after losing Feleppa, but he finds solace in knowing that their love will never die.
Overall, "Jesus to a Child" is a poignant tribute to Michael's lost love and the power of true love to bring comfort and healing even in the midst of pain and sorrow.

Like Jesus to a child
I saw kindness in your eyes, and I believe you heard me cry. You gave me a warm smile, pure and innocent, like that of Jesus Christ towards a child.
I'm blessed
I know
Heaven sent
And Heaven stole
You smiled at me
Like Jesus to a child
I feel fortunate to have had you in my life, and I know you were a gift from heaven. However, your departure felt like a theft. Nevertheless, your smile was so luminous that it reminded me of Jesus’ love towards a child.
And what have I learned
From all this pain
I thought I'd never feel the same
About anyone
Or anything again
I wonder what have I gained from the sorrow and agony I went through. I believed I could never love or feel the way I did about anyone or anything again.
But now I know
When you find your love
When you know that it exists
Then the lover that you miss
Will come to you on those cold, cold nights
However, now I understand that love is worth finding. When you find it and acknowledge its existence, the lover you lost will find a way back to you, especially during the loneliest nights.
When you've been loved
When you know it holds such bliss
Then the lover that you kissed
Will comfort you when there's no hope in sight
When you have known the feeling of being loved and the happiness it brings, the person you shared that love with will be there to comfort you during difficult times when you feel hopeless.
Sadness
In my eyes
No one guessed
Or no one tried
You smiled at me
Like Jesus to a child
Even though I was sad, no one seemed to notice or try to understand what I was going through. But you, with your gentle smile, looked at me with compassion, much like Christ looking at a suffering child.
Loveless and cold
With your last breath
You saved my soul
You smiled at me
Like Jesus to a child
You died feeling unloved and lonely, but your last act was to save me spiritually. Before you left, you regarded me with the same tender glance as Jesus looking at a child.
And what have I learned
From all these tears
I've waited for you all those years
And just when it began
He took you away
Even though I shed tears for you, what have I learned in all those years of waiting for you? As soon as our love began to blossom, fate took you away.
But I still say
When you find love
When you know that it exists
Then the lover that you miss
Will come to you on those cold, cold nights
Regardless, I still believe that when you find true love and acknowledge it, the lover you long for will find a way to be there for you, even during the coldest nights.
So the words you could not say
I'll sing them for you
And the love we would have made
I'll make it for two
I will sing the words you could not utter and make our love as if we were still together.
For every single memory
Has become a part of me
You will always be
My love
Every moment we spent together has become an integral part of who I am today. You will always be my love, and nothing can take your place.
Well, I've been loved
So I know just what love is
And the lover that I kissed
Is always by my side
Because I have been loved, I know what love is and what it feels like. The person I kissed and shared love with is always with me, though they may not be physically present.
Oh, the lover I still miss
Was Jesus to a child
The one I miss so much was like a savior to me, similar to how Jesus was to a child. Their love had immense power, and it will never fade away.

Dedicated to the love of his life.
In his immense sorrow..,
George wrote this amazing song!
Never did he get over his grief.
The best song he ever wrote!!
The best song, of all songs
in the world, to me.
You shall be missed forever,
in our hearts.
& to think he was coming out
with new music.
You are free, but now we grieve.
His music filled my heart with great joy.
Now, my heart pumps in great pain.
I will miss u forever,
George Michael.💔😢

He wrote this song for the one he loved and the one he lost because of disease.
He wrote the text for it within one hour.
He passed all his proceeds from this song to a child care organization.
George Michael is one of those rare talents in this world who dare to make it better.
