Tribal War
George Nooks Lyrics

We don't want no more at all.
Tribal War-
I know that we are [defaced?].
I give Jah praises in the m0rning,
When I hear the people sing.
One by one, they take a lickel sup,
Say that the war is over, over.
We now see ourselves in unity,
Celebratin' with better coli
Now that the war is over, over -
Tribal War
We don't want no more at all.
Tribal War
I know that we are [defaced?].
Tribal War
We don't want no more at all.
Tribal War
I know that we are
They start sittin' up and lickin' a puff.
One by one, they take a lickel sup-
Say that the war is over, over.
We now see ourselves in unity,
Celebrating with better coli
Now that the war is over, over -
Tribal War-
We don't want no more at all.
Tribal War-
I know that we are [defaced?].
The lyrics of George Nooks's song "Tribal War" are centered on the theme of unity and the desire to end violence and conflict between different tribes or groups. The first two lines of the song, "We don't want no more at all. Tribal war," are a clear declaration that the singer has had enough of the conflict and wants it to end. He or she then goes on to express gratitude to Jah (God) for the morning and for the people singing, suggesting a sense of hope for a better future.
The lyrics go on to describe people sitting up and smoking, and taking little sips. This is perhaps a metaphor for people coming together and sharing, and a sense of community building. The chorus repeats the phrase "Tribal War" and suggests that the singer knows that the group is "defaced," perhaps meaning that the fighting has left scars on the community. Nonetheless, there is a sense of celebration and hopefulness for a new and better future.
Overall, the lyrics of "Tribal War" speak to the powerful human desire for peace and unity, and the hope that it is possible even after years of conflict and division.

My best brethren played Djembe with me for 3 years, we use to tour across Canada playing strictly acoustic Roots Reggae. His life was taken in 2017 as far as I am concerned taken by babylon, though i have no proof it is what i feel in my soul. He loved this song and after he made his trod to the ancestral realm, i would hear this song playing everywhere i went. It is a beautiful song and he was a beautiful brother, but for me its a reminder the war is not over. Oroginally from Grenada, we call him Mawe Yabahari, Swahili for "rock of the ocean", today he would have been 43.
