While a first album (entitled Better Than the Rest) was recorded in 1974, the major recording debut came with the release of the eponymous album 'George Thorogood & The Destroyers', released in 1977 (Better Than the Rest was eventually released in 1979). The next album, entitled Move It On Over, was released in the autumn of 1978 and included the hit "Move It On Over" . Other singles from the album included "Please Set A Date" and "Who Do You Love".
During the 1980s, and 1990s, the band recorded some of their most well-known works, "Bad to the Bone" (used to great effect during the bar scene in Terminator 2: Judgment Day, and in the opening scene of John Carpenter's Christine), "I Drink Alone" (from the 'Maverick' album), "You Talk Too Much", and "If You Don't Start Drinking, I'm Gonna Leave".
Thorogood himself is best-known for his animated stage presence and loud, raucous electric slide guitar playing. He is also known as "Lonesome George".

I'm Ready
George Thorogood and the Destroyers Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
I'm ready, I'm willin', and I'm able to rock and roll all night
Come on, pretty baby, we gonna rock, we gonna roll until the broad daylight
Because I'm ready
And I'm able
I'm willin' and I'm able
So you better come and go with me
Talkin' on the phone is not my speed
Don't send me no letter `cause I can't read
Don't be long `cause I'll be gone
We gonna rock and roll all night long
`Cause I'm ready, I'm willin', and I'm able to rock and roll all night
I'm ready, I'm willin', and I'm able to rock and roll all night
Come on, pretty baby, we gonna rock, we gonna roll until tomorrow night
Talkin' on the phone is not my speed
Don't send me no letter `cause I can't read
Don't be long `cause I'll be gone
We gonna rock and roll all night long
`Cause I'm ready, I'm willin', and I'm able to rock and roll all night
I'm ready, I'm willin', and I'm able to rock and roll all night
Come on, pretty baby, we gonna rock, we gonna roll until tomorrow night
The lyrics of this song by George Thorogood and the Destroyers express the singer's readiness, willingness, and ability to rock and roll all night long. He invites his love interest to join him in this activity, promising to continue until the broad daylight. The song emphasizes the singer's preference for face-to-face communication rather than talking on the phone or receiving letters because he believes in living in the present moment. The repetition of the phrase "I'm ready, I'm willin', and I'm able" reiterates the singer's enthusiasm and passion for rock and roll. The song is essentially an invitation to loosen up, let go of inhibition, and embrace the energy of rock and roll with abandon.
Overall, "I'm Ready" is a typical example of the attitude and spirit that epitomizes rock and roll. The lyrics point towards a sense of liberation and a celebration of the carefree attitude of the genre. The song perfectly captures the joy and excitement of a night spent rocking and rolling with someone special. George Thorogood and the Destroyers' music have always carried the message of individual liberation through rock and roll music, and "I'm Ready" stands as one of their most popular examples of this.
