While a first album (entitled Better Than the Rest) was recorded in 1974, the major recording debut came with the release of the eponymous album 'George Thorogood & The Destroyers', released in 1977 (Better Than the Rest was eventually released in 1979). The next album, entitled Move It On Over, was released in the autumn of 1978 and included the hit "Move It On Over" . Other singles from the album included "Please Set A Date" and "Who Do You Love".
During the 1980s, and 1990s, the band recorded some of their most well-known works, "Bad to the Bone" (used to great effect during the bar scene in Terminator 2: Judgment Day, and in the opening scene of John Carpenter's Christine), "I Drink Alone" (from the 'Maverick' album), "You Talk Too Much", and "If You Don't Start Drinking, I'm Gonna Leave".
Thorogood himself is best-known for his animated stage presence and loud, raucous electric slide guitar playing. He is also known as "Lonesome George".

You Talk Too Much

I can't believe the things that you say
Everyday
If you keep on talking baby
You know you're bound to drive me away
Now you get on the telephone with your girlfriend
Your conversation baby ain't got no end
You keep on talking baby drive me out of my mind
You talk too much
I can't believe the things that you say
Everyday
If you keep on talking baby
You know you're bound to drive me away
Well I laid out in the afternoon I start to nappin'
You walk into the room with them jaws a-flappin'
You keep that motormouth moving morning, noon and night
You keep on talking baby make my head turn white
You talk too much
I can't believe the things that you say
Everyday
If you keep on talking baby
You know you're bound just to drive me away
I think you're trying to put me through some kind of test
I'm begging you baby won't you give it a rest
You talk about people that you don't even know
Keep it up baby I'm gonna pick up and blow
You talk too much
I can't believe the things that you say
Everyday
If you keep on talking baby
You know you're bound to drive me away
Don't get me wrong baby I don't mean to complain,
But if you keep on talking you're gonna drive me insane
You keep on talking all around the clock,
I'm begging you baby won't you please stop
You talk too much,
I can't believe the things that you say everyday
If you keep on talking baby
You know you're bound to drive me away
Yes if you keep on talking, baby
You know you're bound just to drive me away
Yes
Uh huh
Yes dear
Yes I'm listening
Oh I heard every word you said, honey
Yes
Yes dear
Oh I agree you're right
Yes, you're always right
Yes, dear
Uh huh
Yeah I, I, I think
I heard
I heard you
Shut up
The song "You Talk Too Much" is a blues rock tune by George Thorogood and the Destroyers about a person who talks excessively and is driving the singer crazy. The lyrics depict the frustration of the singer with the constant babble of the individual. The songwriters used metaphors to describe the talking person as "motormouth" and "jaws a-flappin'" to emphasize the overbearing nature of their speech. The repeated line "you talk too much" highlights the singer's exhaustion with the other person's words.
The lyrics suggest that the excessive speech affects the singer's mental and emotional state, causing him to say, "you're bound to drive me away." This line indicates that the singe,r at this point, feels completely fed up and has had enough. The last line of the song, "Shut up," is a direct message to the talking person, indicating that he has had enough, and it's time to stop.
