Album: Hard Times
Guitar slinger David T. Chastain made quite a name for himself in 2000 with his blues rock based release SOUTHERN GENTLEMEN "Exotic Dancer Blues." The Cd received rave reviews from all across the globe. The reviews were universally positive in rock, blues, metal and the straight press.
With the Georgia Blues Dawgs, David T. has moved one step deeper into the blues realm with the new release "Hard Times." This 11 track Cd has enough power, soul and emotion to satisfy the blues rocker as well as the true blues fans. Yet with enough hard driving guitar to keep the guitar fanatics foaming at the mouth.
States David, "With the Gents I discovered that music could be fun again. Just playing and singing about stuff that would bring a smile to my face. No pretensions just plug in and play." From the opening track of "Let Me Love You" to the mournful closing track "Don't Be Cruel" David T. exudes the confidence of a man who has been playing the guitar on the world stage for many years.
David adds, "On Hard Times I wanted to take the music one step further away from rock and even closer to blues. I will never release anything like Muddy Waters because my music still has too have a little rock and a lot of roll before I feel comfortable. The slower tracks such as "Lies" and "Don't Be Cruel" are personal favorites for their sounds of anguish that I seem to have always been attracted to in minor scale blues. Of course the opening tracks "Let Me Love You," and "I Can't Refuse" always gets me up and dancing!"
Joining David T. in the Dawgs are bassist Tommy Vickery and drummer Mike Haid. Mike has performed and recorded with some of the world's most accomplished musicians including; Ray Gomez (Stanley Clarke), Oscar Cartoya (Spyro Gyra), Steve Wood (Kenny Loggins), Kirk Covington (Tribal Tech, Allan Holdsworth, Joe Zawinul), and countless recordings as a session drummer. Mike is also currently a major reviewer for Modern Drummer magazine.
Tommy has played in bands with blues and rock greats such as Jai Johanny Johanson , Chuck Leavell, and Gregg Allman of the Allman Brothers Band, Randall Bramlett, Johnny Jenkins as well as stints with more soulful groups such as the Platters, Drifters, Little Anthony and the Imperials, and Archie Bell and the Drells.
With the combination of David's rock influences, Mike's fusion influences and Tommy's blues and soul influences when the band gets to jamming the music takes on a unique and very satisfying mix.
The Georgia Blues Dawgs are a showcase for Southern Georgia Blues with a touch of rock that will leave everyone wanting more. Their debut Cd release "Hard Times" is nothing short of a rollicking good time for all .
We will leave the final words to David T. "This Cd was tons of fun to make from beginning to end. I hope the listener enjoys it as much as we did making it!"

In my cup
I dunno what to think
I messed up.
I feel like im in a dream
Wake me up.
So we can now kiss, and make up
I dont even know you anymore
I dont even know you anymore
(I dont even know you baby)
You keep showing me your true colours (true colours)
Your true colours (true colours)
You keep showing me your true colours (true colours)
True colours (true colours)
Im colourblind
But im starting to see ya true colours
They be red and lime,
Blue black and a few others
I guess its clear
No need to confess the mess is here
Its impressive dear
On what you could do with a few dresses
To gain sex
Appeal to fain how you feel, forreal thats an act of fear.
Just disappear
If you still value livin.
Ive given
All i can, man i cant stand the fact
That you act like that
Considering how crazy youve driven
Me. ME! what did i do to you. i never cursed you.
I never hurt you.
Was i the worst just cause i tucked in luck and stuck with my virtue.
Through these real lies
I realize
Theres no future
For us plus my real eyes
Gonna you in regret when they shoot ya
Is it worth severing good ties
Over good byes
I wouldnt know, all i do is that you and i
Was, working out with no exercise

The lyrics to Georgia Blues Dawgs's song "True Blue" speak about a lover who is feeling confused and uncertain about the relationship they are in. The song begins with the individual pouring a drink and expressing their inability to think clearly due to the mess they have made. They want to wake up from the dream and make things better by kissing and making up. However, they also acknowledge that they do not know their partner anymore, and the latter keeps revealing their true colors. The individual is metaphorically colorblind but is now starting to see their partner's true colors of jealousy, lies, and manipulations. They suggest that they cannot act like that anymore and that there is no future for them together.
The lyrics of this song resonate with anyone who has been in a toxic relationship and is trying to rebuild and rekindle the love that was once pure. The singer's painful experience is illustrated through the use of vivid imagery, such as the reference to the colors of the rainbow to symbolize different emotions. The lines "I'm colorblind, but I'm starting to see your true colors," encapsulates the feelings of betrayal and hurt that the individual is struggling to come to terms with.
