Founded in 1985 by Rick Richards, Rick Price, singer Dan Baird and drummer Mauro Magellan, the Satellites quickly launched into stardom on the back of rockers like Keep Your Hands to Yourself, Battleship Chains, Hippy Hippy Shake and others. Critically acclaimed albums and mind-bending performances earned the boys a permanent spot in music history.
After a brief sabbatical following the departure of Baird, The Georgia Satellites returned with a vengeance in 1993. Led by Price and Richards and joined by drummer Todd Johnston, they have packed houses around the world with their blistering brand of Southern rock.

Golden Light
Georgia Satellites Lyrics

And like a drunk I'll go fall, laughing down
You could tell me I'm no different
But I hear the full moon call my name
You can tell me how nothin' changes
Nothin' stays the same
Lost in a golden light
And they tell you truth is a moment, it shines just like a flame
So let it shine on me and I'll stand when it calls my name
You can tell me I'm no different
But I hear the full moon call my name
You can tell me how nothin' changes
But nothin' stays the same
Lost in a golden light
Lost in a golden light
Hey, you can tell me I'm no different
But I hear the full moon call my name
You can tell me how nothin' changes
But nothin' stays the same
Lost in a golden light
Lost in a golden light
Lost in a golden light
Lost in a golden light
"Golden Light" by Georgia Satellites is a song that reflects upon the idea of change and the way in which humans experience it. The song opens with the idea of releasing the darkness, and surrendering to a state of carefree abandon, symbolized by the image of falling down while laughing. The singer seems to accept that they might not be any different from others, yet the call of the full moon changes everything. It's as if the light of the moon has the power to transform individuals, to make them feel lost in a golden light, which could represent a transcendent experience of some kind.
The lyrics of the refrain further delve into the theme of transformation and the momentary nature of truth. The singer seems to be willing to embrace changes and stand up when the golden light calls their name. They seem to be comfortable with the idea that nothing really stays the same, and that truth is a fleeting thing that can only be glimpsed for a moment before it fades away. The singer is not afraid of the unknown but instead is ready to bask in the mystery of the golden light and surrender themselves to the experience.
Overall, "Golden Light" is a poetic ode to accepting change and being open to the unknown. The song encourages listeners to embrace mystery, let go of darkness, and be lost in the beauty of the moment.
