Originall… Read Full Bio ↴Geowulf is Australian duo Star Kendrick and Toma Banjanin.
Originally hailing from the coastal town of Noosa, Australia, Kendrick and Banjanin met in their teens and then moved to Europe, spending their time between London, Berlin, and Gothenburg. The duo started writing together after Kendrick had laid down a few demo vocal tracks and asked Banjanin to flesh them out. The resulting guitar and synth-laden dream pop caught the ear of London-based independent 37 Adventures, who snapped up their debut 2016 single, "Saltwater." At the end of the year, the pair released a second track, "Don't Talk About You."
In 2017, Geowulf issued the singles "Won't Look Back" and "Get You" before collecting them for their debut EP, Relapse, in June. Over the next eight months, the duo focused on touring and recording their debut album, issuing singles like "Hideaway" and "Drink Too Much," both of which appeared on the full-length Great Big Blue in 2018. A year later, after a barrage of singles, the band released their sophomore LP, My Resignation.

Felt the floor fall on top of me
Trying to find a door out of darkness
You learnt to see through me
Round and round, why the hell can't I say no?
Reaching out again, for the light of God
I've been running, running from myself
For so long I felt you moving
Felt your hand's come undone from mine
Naked, I'm a rose in your garden
Wrap me up or cut me down
Round and round, why the hell can't I say no?
Reaching out again, for the light of God
I've been running, running from myself
'Cause we were younger, had nothing else
Nothing else
Round and round, why the hell can't I say no?
Reaching out again, for the light of God
I've been running, running from myself
'Cause we were younger, had nothing else
Round and round, why the hell can't I say no?
Reaching out again, for the light of God
I've been running, running from myself
'Cause we were younger, had nothing else
The Geowulf song "Round and Round" is a track that deals heavily with the theme of feeling lost and alone. The first verse sets the tone for the entire song, describing a feeling of change coming from all directions. The second line references the sensation of the floor falling from beneath the singer, a metaphor for feeling completely out of control. The third line references searching in darkness for a way out, while the fourth line speaks to a person who has learned to "see through" the singer, implying a sense of isolation and lack of privacy.
The chorus of "Round and Round" repeats four times throughout the song, acting as a mantra of sorts. It speaks to the inability to say "no" in a never-ending cycle of reaching out for something more. This cycle is tied to a past of youth and naivete. The second verse references the neediness of one person in a relationship and the other person feeling trapped and looking for a way out. The lines "naked, I'm a rose in your garden / wrap me up or cut me down" speak to a sense of vulnerability and the power dynamic at play within a relationship.
Overall, "Round and Round" is a song that seems to be about feeling lost, trapped, and searching for a way out. It speaks to a sense of helplessness and neediness in relationships, as well as a desire for something more.
