No More Bolero’s

there's an empty where your love
filled my life and I know.
That a part of you will always be
a part of me.
One summernight
and the sky is full of wishes
How can I be
in a world without your eyes
to look at me.
No more Boleroes
No more nights to dance the dance of love
Only lonely hearts
no more Boleroes
I hear the song
and your arms always make me feel so warm
now you're gone I'll be dancing on alone.
No more Boleroes
No more nights to dance the dance of love.
Only lonely hearts
no more Boleroes.
(2 x)
The lyrics of Gerard Joling's song "No More Bolero’s" convey a sense of longing, loss, and loneliness after a separation or the end of a relationship. The song starts by expressing the emptiness left after the love of the person addressed in the song has departed from the singer's life. There is a recognition that even though that person is no longer present, a part of them will always remain within the singer.
The second verse delves into the nostalgia and yearning that the singer feels. They describe a summer night filled with unfulfilled wishes, possibly alluding to the dreams and hopes they had with their partner that will never come to fruition. The absence of their partner's eyes, which used to gaze at them lovingly, is deeply felt in a world without them.
The chorus emphasizes the absence of the Bolero dance, which symbolizes the dance of love they used to share. The singer acknowledges that they are now left with only lonely hearts, highlighting the emptiness and solitude they now experience. Despite hearing the song and reminiscent of their partner's warm embrace, they are now left to dance alone, signifying their longing and the void left by their departure.
Overall, the lyrics capture the sense of loss, longing, and emotional struggle one goes through after the end of a meaningful relationship, where the absence of love is deeply felt.
