Annie's Song
Gheorghe Zamfir Lyrics

Like the mountains in springtime,
Like a walk in the rain, like a storm in the desert,
Like a sleepy blue ocean.
You fill up my senses, come fill me again.
Come let me love you, let me give my life to you,
Let me drown in your laughter, let me die in your arms.
Come, let me love you, come love me again.
You fill up my senses like a night in a forest,
Like the mountains in spring-time,
Like a walk in the rain, like a storm in the desert,
Like a sleepy blue ocean.
You fill up my senses, come fill me again.
Come let me love you, let me give my life to you,
Let me drown in your laughter, let me die in your arms.
Like a storm in the desert, like a sleepy blue ocean.
Come let me love you, come love me again.
Gheorghe Zamfir's "Annie's Song" is a beautiful love song that seems to express the depth of the singer's affection for his beloved partner. The lyrics are poetic and vivid, evoking images of nature and the power of it to fill up all of his senses. The singer compares his beloved to various elements of nature--the night in the forest, the mountains in springtime, a walk in the rain, a storm in the desert, a sleepy blue ocean--all of which stir up intense and pleasurable sensations within him.
The second verse of the song is particularly romantic, as the singer implores his partner to allow him to love her with all his heart and soul, to bask in her laughter, and to die in her arms. He longs to be near her always and to love her fully and deeply. The song's theme is one of complete and all-encompassing love, as the singer seeks to be completely consumed by his beloved and to lose himself in her presence.
