Ghost's look does not match their sound. This is a big slap in the face which I really love. I was turned off at first because I expected loud crunchy guitars. I became a fan because of the band's fun personality and easy to listen metal/rock tone. Great band.

This is my(and my 12 year old son's) current fav band. I saw them open for Iron Maiden a few years ago and they were fantastic. My son and I are buying metal t-shirts and going to see them live in Sep. This will be his first concert. I want him to experience what a metal/rock concert is all about. They are new, yet you still get a classic metal/rock feel to their style/sound. Can't wait.

Hey how did that go? My 11 year old daughter is also a metalhead ( like momma) and I wanted to take her to this as her first show ( she wanted cradle of filth but I think a bit too sexual at 11). I haven't seen any pits or anything at ghost shows so I thought this would give her the same production/spectacle value of a metal show with less risk of accidental injury or harassment (she looks older than she is and unfortunately already gets attention from men :/)

As I drifted off to sleep last night, the usual thoughts of "Conversations of Yore” were happily replaced with an approximately three minute commercial, showcasing how I would see Ghost announce their next album:
Sister Imperator, Papa IV, Mr. Saltarian and Nihil are half-heartedly and mindlessly discussing the weather. Suddenly, a virile young man with an air of arrogance bursts into the room, announcing himself as ‘Newboy’ and claiming boisterously that he is the ONLY illegitimate son of the Holy Papa blood line, and he will fulfill his destiny; to claim the coveted position of front man for the band, and willfully spread “the word” of The Clergy. Cardi C (unimpressed) says, "Ok, that’s great and all, but have you seen how I have made us popular? They love my music, and they love me!" With gritted teeth, a fist fight ensues, and after some struggling, Newboy unsheathes a hidden blade and quickly thrusts it through Copia's gut, violently sealing his fate.
A very quick scene of only a few seconds depicts the funeral of Papa the Forth.
Fade in to panning over the crowd of a late-night talk show, with a message on the screen, “Three days later…”.
A famous talk show host introduces "…the new and improved, Ghost!". Pan to the stage where Newboy is now fronting the group, wearing poorly applied skull-like makeup, and an uneven costume, clearly not to size. His visage is somehow slightly amateur, as if rushed, compared to the tight, professional look of the rest of the band.
Newboy’s eyes are unabashedly thrilled with the applause and the spotlight. He places a water bottle down on a nearby stool and then, ignoring the band, gleefully steps up to the mic stand in front of him. "Thank you so much for that warm introduction and thank you all for being here tonight! This is truly a..."
Meanwhile, in a nearby dark corridor, you hear Newboy’s amplified words echoing vaguely down the hall behind the sound-stage, as the camera is looking through the mud-crusted eyes of a dark figure, shuffling slowly towards the noise, and giving off involuntary tired, raspy moans.
Back on the brightly lit stage, Newboy utters endlessly with an impatient, and visibly unimpressed band behind him; "... why I’m just thrilled to be here, I can't even begin to tell you! This has been MY dream, for years, to get to this..."
Suddenly in a blur, microphone feedback prematurely cuts him off as the dark figure bursts through the back curtains. He quickly grabs Newboy by the collar with an ungodly strength. Effortlessly, Newboy is lifted and then forcibly dropped behind the side curtains of the stage. You can only see his wildly flopping legs, the wet noises of his attack almost being drowned out by the shock and panic of the crowd.
The Ghouls only now react as the leg movements go dead; silently taking an involuntary step back from their instruments, and the gruesome scene in front of them. The crowd is fearfully hushed, while the dark figure slowly steps out to stand with his back to the audience. With a calm stillness, the man takes a moment to look over the various Ghouls silently. The people (now huddled together near the closed studio doors in the back of the studio) all suddenly gasp as the dark figure quickly turns around to stare them down. They can now clearly see a dirty, rough looking Cardinal Copia, blood dripping from his chin. He is wearing a mud soaked burial robe that has been recently ripped in a few places, his hands dark with dirt. Taking a single quick step forward, he forces another fearful gasp from the crowd, and then slowly extends his tattered arm towards the microphone.
Pulling it close, they hear in an amplified raspy voice, "Iiiiiiii"… He stops; a slight ring of feedback fades off to silence as he swallows painfully. A tension hangs in the air, everyone fixated on him with bated breath. Copia suddenly turns his attention to Newboy's water, still resting on the stool beside the mic stand. He grabs it forcefully, popping the cap off by squeezing the bottle tightly, then chaotically pours it up over his dirty face, drinking some of it like a wild animal as it falls. Emptying the bottle, he carelessly throws it away, then slowly turns back to the mic to speak again, clearer this time, in a tired but determined expression;
"I. Wasn't. Done. Making…<he breathes in painfully>…Music. For you."
Seconds pass in silence, as recognition washes over the room. Slowly, everyone understands what this means (He’s back!!) and with relief they crescendo into adrenaline fueled applause, cheering and shouting their enthusiastic approval of his return. The camera pans out from the stage as everyone hesitantly moves to approach him, while slowly, words form on the bottom of the screen:
" A new beginning, a new album. Arriving 202x".

The first song I heard by Ghost was Mary On A Cross, due to its popularity on TikTok. I was insanely interested in the song, since it had all the key instrumental properties and the singing wasnt growly or screamy or anything. While listening to a slowed version of the song, Spillways was suggested; so I listened to it, then a comment said something about Darkness At The Heart Of My Love, then came me listening to even more songs. Ghost is now my favorite band, and has been since it was popular on TikTok. Their music is absolutely perfect, and the lore behind them is very interesting to look into. My god I love this band. As a burnt out Atheist who was raised Christian, it feels good hearing a band that doesnt just use Jesus and shit to praise hallelujah or some crap. It's easy to assume that it's about that, though, but most of the music they make correlates with the characters.

My son passed away in Sept and he and I were going to see them together when they came close enough to Norfolk VA to go but sadly his life was ended when some unknown person decided to shoot off a gun into the street. It went straight through his beautiful head. He was such a good man that would do anything for Anyone. I will have to go for both of us. My best friend recommended Ghost to me for years. Never did I follow his advice until tonight. This is the first song I listened to, and boy do I regret not listening to it sooner. Now that our roads took us down separate paths and that we are not best friends anymore, this feels... saddening. Listening to this I feel like something's with me. A remnant of something full of good and bad times, happiness and depression, memories to be kept cherished forever. A presence of something so familiar, like a hand of someone dear on my shoulder, even though nothing's there. I feel like I've lost myself with his leaving, and listening to Ghost feels like the only way I can feel his presence still with me - a friend dearly missed. Wherever you are mate, take good care and all the best to you. I wasn't really listening to Ghost before. But then they were announced for this year's Blue Ridge Rock Festival, and this was one of the first songs I heard from them. Plus hearing them on my local radio station and enjoying the music but not realizing who they were. These guys are absolutely awesome. New fan!!

I discovered Ghost a few days ago. I knew there was this band with a singer who looked like a sinister priest but i didn't really notice it was them until now. Always thought they were some over the top black metal band, but man I was so wrong...never expected them to rock this much! Catchy riffs, clever lyrics, and this whole theatrical horror show. Some rock/metal bands are like a fart in a trance, they are just going through the motions and rehashing the past. But Ghost manage to sound fresh and exciting, and I felt a deep stirring in my loins listening to them. Even though their videos get millions of views, they aren't that well known I mean in terms of Van Halen, Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, etc which nearly every one has heard of whether they like them or not. Different era I guess and e.g. in the 80's with the metal boom Motley Crue, Van Halen, Whitesnake, etc then I'm pretty sure they'd have been huge. Strong lyrics too including some antidisestablishmentarianism but not done in a sesquipedalianism sense or sounding very pretentious. Some have pointed to the floccinaucinihilipilification of their music, however that is misnomer as they are brilliant at what they do and know the direction they want to go!

I love how extra Papa is in this video. Best highlighted by the part where he leaves the theater. He could have just taken a step or two forward and then just turned and left, but instead he does this goofy step-thing where he tries to avoid stepping on everyone's feet, as if he's in a row farther back.
