Ghostface Killah was raised in the Stapleton housing projects in Staten Island, New York. In his autobiographical song "All That I Got Is You", Ghost tells the story of his childhood. He raps about how he grew up in a three bedroom apartment without his father, who left him at the age of six. Apparently, his mother had nine children.
His stage name was taken from one of the characters in the 1979 kung fu film Mystery of Chessboxing.
He was also a close friend of the three founding members of Wu-tang clan

Ghost almost didn't make the cut because he couldn't get his verse down (he never rapped to R & B). He called Mr. Dalvin and asked to do it one more time...he had a script and eventually trashed it to freestyle his whole verse!

True story. I bought the cassette tape for Jodeci "Get on Up" in 1996 and didn't realize this song was on it. My cousin Marcus happened to be with me when I bought it. He's a huge Wu Tang fan. We ended up rewinding this song like 30 times. And it's 2021 and I'm still listening to it. It's a classic song.
