Throughout the 90's, Ghoulspoon forged its own path and gained a reputation and following in the SoCal area through hard work and regional touring with the likes of Incubus, Korn, 311, Deftones, No Doubt, Sublime, Kid Rock, System of a Down, Static-X, Sugar Ray, Foo Fighters, The Cult, Snot, Kottonmouth Kings, Powerman 5000, and (hed) pe among many others. The band earned a huge fan base and many accolades including handfulls of San Diego Music Awards nominations and 1 win for "Best Hard Rock/Metal Band" in 2001.
Over its career, Ghoulspoon released several demos and 3 albums - “To Serve Man (1993)”, “Medication (1996)”, and “Fever (1999)”, selling over 10,000 units without the help of a manager, booking agent, or major record label. After going through years of lineup changes and enough scandal and debauchery to fill a two part VH1 Special, the band changed a few members and was reborn as Divided by Zero in 2002.

Beauty on its ass
Circling the crops
Another dropped pass
But she got nerve to burn
'cause everybody's brought her shame
Now it's her turn
So she lets the swarm squirm
And she's been turned
Like everybody
And now the hopelessness sets in
Knowing that somebody else will always win
And now the fever sets in
From knowing that
Somebody else will always win
Where does your revenge end?
Your future begin
From inside
Being alone haunts her badly
Hollow inside
It's about to break her back
Still along for the ride
'cause they keep dragging her down
Everybody wants what she's got
And it's a dirty town
So she lets the crew creep
While she drowns in the deep
Depths that consume her
And now the hopelessness sets in
Knowing that somebody else will always win
An eternity of lost Sundays
An infinite slide
The bed becomes a bank
To save the tears she has cried
Now she begins to lose count
Because nobody fills the hole
'though it's been filled in
And dug out
So she drains the last drop
But even the flood
Can't block the time
That runs past her
And now the hopelessness sets in
Knowing that somebody else will always win
The lyrics to Ghoulspoon's "Fever" depict the despair and hopelessness felt by someone who has been used and discarded by others. The singer is a woman who has been objectified and taken advantage of by those around her. She has been "spread like a germ" and "turned like everybody", suggesting that she has been used for her sexuality and is not seen as a person with her own agency. Despite the shame and guilt that she carries, she has the nerve to burn and lets the swarm squirm. This suggests that she is tired of being a victim and is ready to take control of her own life.
However, despite her newfound strength, the singer is still haunted by her past. She is hollow inside and feels like she is about to break. Her bed becomes a bank to save the tears she has cried, suggesting that she is consumed by her own emotions. Despite her efforts to move on, she feels like nobody can fill the hole that has been left inside her. Even the flood of her emotions can't block the time that runs past her, and she knows that somebody else will always win. The song suggests that revenge is not the answer, and the singer must find a way to move on and create her own future from within.
