Giant Bear celebrates a two year anniversary with a month long west coast tour in May, 2007. The tour is in support of their self-titled second LP, which will be available mid-June 2007.
The album is enormous musically, showcasing a variety of established guest musicians all well loved in Memphis, adding accordion, pedal steel, Hammond B3 and slide guitar. Despite how big their music is sonically, the songs originate with the theory that music is best when it's simple and the stories are straightforward.
Annie
Giant Bear Lyrics

He has gotten all in my head
Seems like we are playin' a game
That I can't help but feel that I'm losin'
Chorus
Annie I think it's over
Annie I think it's over, again
Annie I just need some more time
I need to straighten out this heart of mine
I never thought that I could feel so scared
I knew I never wanted to break his heart
Chorus
Annie you know I loved him more than life
Now I'm having feelings I just can't hide
I've been fighting a war inside my head
Now I know that he's my only weakness
Chorus
Annie I hope that we can still be friends
The lyrics to Giant Bear's song "Annie" depict the internal struggle of a woman named Annie. The song's narrator is trying to understand Annie's feelings about a relationship that seems to be coming to an end. Annie is feeling unsure about the relationship, as she feels like she's losing in a game without any control. She can't get her thoughts about this person out of her head, which is causing her to feel confused and conflicted.
In the chorus, the singer believes that the relationship is over, and they are saying their goodbyes to each other in a way that feels final. It's as if the singer senses that Annie has already made up her mind, and there's nothing they can do to change it. However, the singer is still holding onto hope, hoping that they can have more time and that Annie will change her mind. The war inside Annie's head is something that can't be ignored, and it's causing them both pain.
The singer's feelings for Annie are laid bare in the bridge when they confess their love for Annie, hoping to sway her into reconsidering her decision. The song's last chorus has a slight change of tone, though. The singer states that they hope that Annie and they can still be friends, even if the relationship doesn't work out. The song ends with a sense of finality infused with the hope of friendship.
