Gileah has been playing music for the better part of her life, she began playing live in her early teens. Her first real entrance into songwriting began much later when she began to write stories and lullabies, and recorded her first album in 2005, entitled The Golden Plains. The album perked ears with it's almost childlike view on the world, but most importantly on the issues of faith discussed throughout the album.
In 2007, she partnered with Ava Quigly, Kevin Woerner, Ben Phillips, and producer Allen Salmon to create the album Gileah and The Ghost Train. While Gileah's voice and lyrics are predominate in the songs, ...The Ghost Train explored some of the darker aspects of her artist themes, along with expanding her sound dramatically. The album received critical praise from all over, and the song "Emergency" was featured in one of Paste Magazine's music legendary samplers.
In 2009, Gileah said she was working on new music, and even hinted at a storybook to accompany the album. Whatever she does, fans know to expect the unexpected from this gifted artist and songwriter.
Going Home
Gileah Taylor Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Sky darkening
Under our feet – the earth moving
I′m going home
I walk this road
Beside the gulf
Lights from the boats blink in code –
HOME
"You don′t understand me anymore,"
Whispered as we walk along the shore
But everything about you has been home
So I'm going
Home
Don't feel the same
So what? We′ve changed
Along with the tides... lows and highs
I′m going home
HOME
Walking as the dark sky turns light
Reaching for a hand to hold mine
Everything about you has been home
I'm going home
The lyrics to the song "Going Home" by Gileah Taylor appear to be about the singer's desire to return home. They describe a scene where the trees are lit up while the sky is darkening, and the earth seems to be moving underfoot. The singer is walking along a road by the gulf, where the lights from the boats blink in code. The repeated refrain of "I'm going home" emphasizes the singer's sense of purpose and determination to return home.
In the second verse, the lyrics take a slightly different turn. The singer is walking beside someone who whispers, "You don't understand me anymore," implying some sort of conflict between the two. However, the singer seems to find solace in the fact that "everything about you has been home," and emphasizes that they are returning home despite the differences that may have arisen between them. The final verse brings a sense of completion to the song, as the singer walks in the light with someone holding their hand, emphasizing the importance of finding one's way back home.
From a thematic perspective, "Going Home" can be seen as an exploration of the desire for a sense of belonging and of returning to one's roots. The song reminds us that often, despite circumstances that may have changed us, we still have the need to find a sense of grounding and a place to call home.
