Gimp released one album in 1995; a cassette tape entitled Smiles for Macavity. While the cassette is nearly impossible to find, the tracks can be found on the internet.
The band disbanded when Kalnoky decided he wanted to write and play more than punk music. Some of the members of Gimp left the band, while Kalnoky and Chris Greer stayed together, added a horn section, and started the band Catch 22.

More and more people who listen to Streetlight Manifesto are learning of Gimp's Existence through Tomas Kalnoky Teasing to play Mrs. Butterworth's Indestructible Bomb Shelter at Streetlight shows. Since he first made this joke Past Gimp fans and new ones alike have often Chanted "BUTTERWORTH'S" at shows.

In "Keep It to Yourself," Gimp paints a picture of people struggling with addiction, trying to hold back something they know they'll never be able to give back. The song speaks to the pain of being emotionally drained and the search for a way to express that feeling. The lyrics are sung from two different perspectives, one of a female and one of a male, both trying to hold back what they are feeling and desperately wanting to be anyone but themselves. The phrase "My hands are tied" is repeated throughout the song, driving home the idea that the characters feel powerless to escape their situation.
