New Rush
Gin Wigmore Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I step on you to sip on fire
I got this feeling that I can't go back
I got this feeling that I can't go back
I burn my eyes to see through water
I got this feeling that I can't go back
I got this feeling that I can't go back

It's always you in my bed
And in that bed, I saw our deaths
I need to sleep with my eyes on someone new
To all the fools that live in my heart
To all the times I played the part
I can blame all my mistakes I made on you

I step on you to sip on fire
I got this feeling that I can't go back
I got this feeling that I can't go back
I burn my eyes to see through water
I got this feeling that I can't go back
I got this feeling that I can't go back

I gave so much to feel you rush
And in that rush, I want your touch
I need to slip inside the night
Back into you
I am cold from what you've done
When it gets hot, you know I'll run
I will blame all my mistakes I made on you

I step on you to sip on fire
I got this feeling that I can't go back
I got this feeling that I can't go back
I step on you to sip on fire
I got this feeling that I can't go back
I got this feeling that I can't go back
I burn my eyes to see through water

I got this feeling that I can't go back
I got this feeling that I can't go back

Overall Meaning

In Gin Wigmore’s song New Rush, the lyrics explore feelings of intense desire and a need for escapism. The lines "I step on you to sip on fire / I got this feeling that I can't go back" suggest a willingness to hurt others in pursuit of sensation or excitement. The idea of not being able to go back may suggest an addiction to this rush, or a fear that once one experiences something so powerful, they can never fully return to their previous state of being.

The line "It's always you in my bed / And in that bed, I saw our deaths" implies a sense of foreboding or danger associated with this person. The singer recognizes that they need to break away and find something or someone new, yet they are still drawn to this person's energy and intensity. The chorus repeats the line "I got this feeling that I can't go back," emphasizing the sense of being trapped in this cycle of desire and danger.

The lyrics also suggest a sense of responsibility for one's actions, even when under the influence of this rush. The lines "To all the fools that live in my heart / To all the times I played the part / I can blame all my mistakes I made on you" suggest that the singer acknowledges that they have made mistakes, but ultimately take responsibility for their actions.

Overall, New Rush explores themes of desire, addiction, and personal responsibility in the face of dangerous temptation.

This woman is absolutely great.  Singer, songwriter, video producer, performer.  The whole package.  New Zealand should be proud.  Great job!!

@buddah_stixxthemooshroom9721

+Larry Thomson well what are you? American? Canadian? Italian? Asian?

@fill_dobross7965

+buddah_stixx the mooshroom I don't think that Larry Thomson is an Italian or Asian name

@FPSpwned

+Larry Thomson I'm a New Zealander, but why the hell should New Zealand be proud as a whole? She's an individual who made it on her own, just because she's from New Zealand does that give the whole country the right to be proud? She moved to Australia so she could get further in the music business because New Zealand is useless at getting artists recognition.
