Ten Flaws Down
Ginger Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Once again a previous sin
Sees the angels out, and the demons in
And the castle we built becomes porcelain
But don't tie me in with those other men

And I hurt myself, like I used to then
Just to feel some pain, just to feel something
But to hurt you too, I was not intending
Just don't tie me in with those other men

With those other, other, faceless and undercover
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
There'll never be another
And I tried to be faithful and true
(yeah-yeah, yeah-yeah, yeah-yeah, yeah-yeah)
Though heaven may die above you
No man will ever love you like I do

Once again life takes a hit
And I heal my bones, and I'll deal with it
And I face the wrath of those hypocrites
That would not admit that they're full of shit

Like those other, other, faceless and undercover
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
There'll never be another
And I tried to be faithful and true
(yeah-yeah, yeah-yeah, yeah-yeah, yeah-yeah)

Though heaven may die above you
No man will ever love you like I do

Overall Meaning

In "Ten Flaws Down," Ginger sings about being haunted by past mistakes and trying to reconcile that with his current feelings. He acknowledges that his past sins have caused angels to abandon him and let the demons take over. He compares the once sturdy castle he built to porcelain, suggesting that it is fragile and easily broken. Despite his regrets, Ginger is clear that he does not want to be associated with the "other men" who have also hurt the woman he loves. Ginger admits to hurting himself in the past, just to feel something, however, he never intended to hurt his lover. He wants to separate himself from the "faceless and undercover" men who have given men a bad name. He assures his lover that he loves her and that he has tried to be faithful and true to their relationship, and that no other man will ever love her like he does.

In the second verse, Ginger continues to reflect on his past mistakes and how he has had to deal with the consequences. He faces the wrath of hypocrites who refuse to admit to their own mistakes. Once again, he separates himself from the "faceless and undercover" men, asserting that there will never be another man like him.

As a whole, "Ten Flaws Down" is an emotional and honest reflection on past mistakes and how it can affect relationships. Ginger acknowledges his flaws but also differentiates himself from other men who have also caused pain. He declares his love for his partner and reiterates his commitment to being faithful and true.
